Shines in UFC debut
StrawweightUFC
August 10, 2024
Luciano defeated Talita Alencar via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This was a rematch of a Contenders Series fight last September that ended in a unanimous draw. Luciano, making her official UFC debut here, left zero doubt which woman was the better fighter. Stephanie used her six-inch height edge to batter Alencar at distance. She landed a Round 3 knockdown and closed with a whopping 72-41 edge in terms of significant strikes landed. She also stuffed 9-of-10 Alencar takedown attempts. It was an excellent showing in a fight which most thought would be plenty competitive. Luciano has theoretical upside given the fact she won't be 25 years of age until mid-December.

Comes on strong to secure contract
StrawweightUFC
September 20, 2023
Luciano fought Talita Alencar to a draw (28-28, 28-28, 28-28) at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, she was one of four fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
It's not often a fighter gets a contract without a definitive result, but Luciano came on so strong after weathering the ground attacks of her opponent that UFC President Dana White felt he had no choice but to give her a shot. While she appeared close to finishing that fight multiple times in the last frame, the reality is that she was taken down and put in bad positions for the majority of the first 10 minutes. This raises some questions as to how she will perform when she doesn't have a significant height advantage, or a completely exhausted opponent in front of her. Luciano clearly has some Muay Thai skills, but that may not be enough if she can't improve her takedown defense and ground game.
