Retiring after next fight
Modafferi's upcoming flyweight fight against Casey O'Neill at UFC 271 on Feb. 12 will be the final one of her career, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Modaferri has 44 professional fights under her belt and five more on The Ultimate Fighter, so her upcoming fight will be her 50th. She won't be able to get back to a .500 record under the UFC banner regardless of what happens against O'Neill, as she's slipped to a 4-6 record with the promotion, but the 39-year-old will be able to look back on a career which included the most fights in women's MMA history.

Set to face Casey O'Neill
Modafferi is expected to take on Casey O'Neill at UFC 271 on Feb. 12, Mike Heck of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Modafferi hasn't had much success since joining the UFC back in 2017. After losing her last two fights by unanimous decision against Viviane Araujo and Taila Santos, she now owns a 4-6 record with the promotion. In O'Neill, she'll face a fighter who's undefeated as a professional, though that includes just eight fights and only three under the UFC banner.

Not competitive at UFC 266
Moadfferi lost to Taila Santos via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 266 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
One of the toughest competitors in the history of women's MMA, Modafferi managed to hang in there to see the final bell once again despite being hopelessly outclassed by the younger, larger and more physical Santos. Modafferi continued to push forward despite being unable to get anything going offensively for the duration of the fight. The 39-year-old has never been particularly athletic and has little stopping power in her hands, so falling behind on the scorecards is a recipe for disaster for Modafferi. This defeat also snaps of the most bizarre streaks in recent memory, as Modafferi had alternated wins and losses in her prior ten bouts, a streak that began on May 20, 2017 in a fight against Sarah D'Alelio in Invicta.

New challenger Sept. 25
Modafferi will now take on Taila Santos in a flyweight bout at UFC 266 on Sept. 25, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Santos steps in for Tatiana Suarez who had to withdraw for an undisclosed reason. Santos had a fight previously scheduled for early September, but had to withdraw due to visa issues. Modafferi had knee surgery back in April. She hasn't fought since losing by unanimous decision back in January to Viviane Araujo.

Suarez fight off
Modafferi will not fight at UFC 266 after Tatiana Suarez (undisclosed) was forced to withdraw, Carlos Contreras Legaspi of ESPN Deportes reports.
ANALYSIS
Modafferi was expected to make her return from a knee injury in the Sept. 25 fight, but she'll have to wait a bit longer to get back in the octagon. It remains possible for her fight with Suarez to be rescheduled.
