Snaps brief losing streak

August 17, 2024
O'Neill defeated Luana Santos via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26) at UFC 305 on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
ANALYSIS
O'Neill actually found herself as a slight (+115) underdog by the time this fight went off, and she responded with one of her best efforts in quite some time. She completely shut down the grappling game of Santos, allowing just one takedown and spending no real time in a compromising position. On the feet, O'Neill landed a whopping 113 total strikes compared to just 46 from Santos. Casey looked calm and composed, something she struggled with in her prior two bouts, both defeats. This victory should buy O'Neill some time in terms of her roster spot being at risk.

FlyweightUFC
May 29, 2024
O'Neill will fight Tereza Bleda at UFC 305 on Aug. 17, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
The Scottish flyweight will get the chance to get her first win since 2022 after losing by unanimous decision to Jennifer Maia last March and more recently being submitted by Ariane da Silva in December of 2023. O'Neill will take on a less experienced Bleda who sports a 1-1 record, though both women will make their 2024 debut as they enter the octagon in August.
Struggles continue in Vegas

O'Neill lost to Ariane Lipski via submission (armbar) at 1:18 of Round 2 at UFC 296 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Outside of a few effective low kicks, O'Neill showed next to nothing in a fight she entered as a -175 favorite. She struggled mightily in the striking exchanges between the two women and was unable to get the fight to the mat whenever she found herself in trouble. This was a highly concerning performance on multiple fronts. O'Neill hasn't looked the same since returning from a torn ACL this past March, and she now finds herself in the midst of a two-fight losing streak (and in a whole heap of trouble moving forward). On a slightly more positive note, Casey turned just 27 years of age this past October and is currently the only Australian female fighter on the UFC roster, so she probably has a bit more wiggle room than most.

O'Neill will take on Viviane Araujo in a flyweight bout at a UFC event in Australia on Sept. 9, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports Thursday.
ANALYSIS
O'Niell lost her most recent fight to Jennifer Maia in March via unanimous decision after making her return from a torn ACL. She'll look to regain her momentum - before her recent loss, the flyweight had won her first four UFC bouts.
