Drops decision in UFC debut
Veretennikov lost to Danny Barlow via split decision (28-29, 30-27, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The 34-year-old Veretennikov looked better than expected in his UFC debut, but no, he didn't deserve to win this fight, and judge Jerin Valel's scorecard, which gave him all three rounds, is completely laughable. Veretennikov got the worse of the action over the course of the first ten minutes, but not by a significant margin. The truth of the matter is that neither man accomplished a whole lot. Veretennikov picked up the pace in Round 3 with Barlow clearly tiring, but the damage was already done. The lone bit of good news for Veretennikov is that he will walk away with a chunk of Barlow's purse after the latter missed weight by a quarter pound Friday morning.

Fighting Barlow in August
Veretennikov will take on Danny Barlow at a UFC event in Las Vegas on August 10, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Veretennikov will take the place of the injured Uros Medic and battle the undefeated Barlow in August. The 34-year-old Kazakhstani will be making his UFC debut in the bout and will hope to use his stopping power (nine of 12 professional wins by KO/TKO) to overcome a size and reach disadvantage against the younger Barlow.
