Gets outclassed on Saturday
Negumereanu lost to Carlos Ulberg via KO (punches) at 3:44 of Round 1 at UFC 281 on Saturday in New York.
ANALYSIS
Negumereanu was completely shut out of the fight Saturday, unable to track down his opponent and work his grinding grappling game. "Nick" is incredibly tough and can wear opponents out when he gets going, but his lack of athleticism will make it tough for the Romanian fighter as he attempts to climb in the light heavyweight division. Negumereanu falls to 13-2 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Statement win at UFC 277
Negumereanu defeated Ihor Potieria via TKO (strikes) at 3:33 of Round 2 at UFC 277 on Saturday in Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Negumereanu completely dismantled his debuting opponent despite the fact he began the bout as a fairly modest -140 favorite. Recognizing his clear edge in the grappling department, Negumereanu picked up a takedown and plenty of control time in Round 1. Not only did it win him the frame, but it served to exhaust Potieria and essentially eliminate any chance he had of mounting a comeback. Nicolae showed off his striking skills in Round 2, eventually forcing the newcomer up along the fence and unloading with everything but the kitchen sink before referee Kerry Hatley's late stoppage finally arrived. Negumereanu dropped his UFC debut to Saparbek Safarov in March 2019, but he's won four in a row since and seems to be legitimately improving each time we see him. Keep an eye on the 27-year-old Romanian.
