Second straight knockout loss
Menifield lost to Azamat Murzakanov via KO (punches) at 3:18 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
Menifield lasted all of a dozen seconds in his knockout loss to Carlos Ulberg in May, so in that respect, he looked much improved in this one. Of course, that's where the compliments end. Alonzo struggled with the movement and quickness of Murzakanov. Virtually all of Menifield's offensive thrusts were one-and-done, and he struggled to get his head off the center line the entire bout. Alonzo was finally put away from good about midway through Round 2 after a three-piece combo from Murzaknov sent him tumbling to the mat and forced referee Dan Movahedi to step in. Set to turn 37 years of age this coming October, Alonzo's days in the top-15 of the middleweight division have come and gone.

Murzakanov up next
Menifield is scheduled to compete against Azamat Murzakanov in a light heavyweight fight at UFC Abu Dhabi on Aug. 3, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Menifield will look to bounce back relatively immediately after lasting only 12 seconds against Carlos Ulberg at St. Louis less than three weeks ago. Menifield's next opponent has been inching for a fight since breaking his arm at UFC on ESPN 44.

Lasts 12 seconds in St. Louis
Menifield lost to Carlos Ulberg via KO (punches) at 0:12 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in St. Louis.
ANALYSIS
Perhaps Menifield would have won, maybe he would have lost, but he gave himself absolutely zero chance with the foolish game plan he elected to employ. Alonzo blitzed Ulberg right off the hop, firing off some wild, off balance shots that left him vulnerable for damaging return shots. Carlos took full advantage, finishing Menifield in an instant. Entering with an undefeated record in his past five fights (4-0-1), Alonzo had a real chance to make a statement here at 205 pounds, and he let it slip right through his fingers. The margin for error at this level is razor-thin, as Menifield just found out.
