Modestas Bukauskas

Lithuania

Finds submission win late
Light HeavyweightUFC
July 27, 2024
Bukauskas defeated Marcin Prachnio via submission (arm-triangle choke) at 3:12 of Round 3 at UFC 304 on Saturday in Manchester, England.
ANALYSIS
The end result was fine, but this was a pretty middling performance from Bukauskas. He had the better of the vast majority of the action, but he also got reckless on the feet on multiple occasions and paid for it in a major way. Bukauskas appeared to be on the verge of being finished in each of the final two frames, only to find a takedown each time which saved his bacon. Now in his second run with the company, Modestas has quietly won three of four since returning to the UFC back in February 2023.

Prachnio fight scheduled
Light HeavyweightUFC
May 24, 2024
Bukauskas is scheduled to compete against light heavyweight Marcin Prachnio at UFC 304 in Manchester on July 27, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Bukauskas will look to bounce back after getting knocked out by Vitor Petrino on Nov. 4. Before then, the former won his first two fights of 2023, defeating Tyson Pedro and Zac Pauga.
Crushed by Vitor Petrino
Light HeavyweightUFC
November 4, 2023
Bukauskas lost to Vitor Petrino via KO (punch) at 1:03 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
Bukauskas got help from the judges in his unanimous decision win over Zac Pauga in his most recent fight this past June. He wasn't as lucky here against Petrino. He dropped the opening frame after giving up a takedown and some ground control time, but it was one short left hand from Petrino about a minute into Round 2 which turned his lights out in an instant. Referee Marc Goddard immediately jumped in to save Bukauskas from further damage. "The Baltic Warrior" was cut from the UFC following a three-fight losing streak from October 2020 to September 2021. He returned the past February and picked up back-to-back wins over Tyson Pedro and Pauga before this setback. You would have to think Bukauskas' margin for error is smaller than your average fighter given the fact he has already been sent packing once.
Facing Petrino
Light HeavyweightUFC
July 28, 2023
Bukauskas will take on Vitor Petrino in a light heavyweight bout at a UFC event on Nov. 4, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
Bukauskas has won two straight UFC fights, taking down Tyson Pedro and more recently Zac Pauga, both via unanimous decision. He'll look to keep the momentum going after a rough start to his UFC career (1-3 record across his first four fights), but he's faced with a daunting task in Petrino, who hasn't lost a professional fight yet in his career.
Gets help from judges in win
Light HeavyweightUFC
June 17, 2023
Bukauskas defeated Zac Pauga via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC on ESPN 47 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The 30-27 scorecard is about the worst you will ever see, while the two 29-28's aren't much better, either. A pure striker, Bukauskas was unable to generate any consistent pressure on the feet outside of the closing moments of Round 1. He landed a handful of big shots here and there, but was one-and-done on virtually everything he threw. His corner was begging him for more volume, but it wasn't meant to be. Bukauskas should consider himself extremely fortunate two judges scored this fight for him, let alone all three. "The Baltic Gladiator" improves to 3-3 over the course of two separate stints with the UFC.
Booked against Pauga in June
Light HeavyweightUFC
April 26, 2023
Bukauskas will take on Zac Pauga in a light heavyweight matchup at the UFC event scheduled for June 17 in Las Vegas, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Bukauskas likely saved his roster spot with a February victory over Tyson Pedro to snap a three-fight losing skid, and now he'll look to put together a winning streak against Pauga, who is 1-1 with the company. Neither man has successfully executed a takedown during their time with the UFC, so look for this fight to play out on the feet, where Bukauskas holds a slight advantage in striking volume over a small sample size.
