Victim of poor decision

April 10, 2021
Griffin lost to Luis Saldana via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC on ABC 2 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Griffin was visibly stunned when ring announcer Bruce Buffer announced the decision, and rightfully so. It's a crushing defeat for a guy who entered with a 1-3 record in his first four UFC bouts and may have very well been fighting for his job. The constant pressure of Griffin over the course of the first ten minutes should have been enough to get the job done. He landed a pair of successful takedowns in each of the first two rounds and scored 5:30 worth of control time through the first two frames. It wasn't enough according to the judges, but it should have been. Hopefully Griffin gets another shot with the company because he deserved a better fate in this one.
Booked for April fight
FeatherweightOther
February 3, 2021
Griffin will take on Luis Saldana in a featherweight matchup at a UFC event scheduled for April 10, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Griffin will attempt to bounce back from his recent skid in which he's lost three of his first four fights under the UFC banner. He most recently lost to Youssef Zalal via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night in June of 2020. Saldana will make his UFC debut against Griffin after defeating Vince Murdock via TKO (front kick) at Dana White's Contender Series in November. Saldana has an edge in both height and reach.

Griffin lost to Youssef Zalal via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Hopelessly outclassed on the feet, Griffin attempted to lean on his wrestling game in order to secure the victory, and it wasn't enough. He did land multiple takedowns on Zalal, but Griffin did nothing with his positional advantage and was whipped the second the two men returned to the stand-up. Griffin is a wild and erratic striker who pays zero attention to defense. It's a strategy that simply won't work in the best fighting organization in the sport. Griffin has lost three of his four fights with the company since earning his UFC contract with a submission victory on Dana White's Contender Series back in July 2018.
Next fight scheduled for June 27

June 19, 2020
Griffin will fight Youssef Zalal on June 27 as part of the UFC on ESPN 12, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Griffin earned his first UFC victory as part of the promotion in his last bout versus TJ Brown, picking up a submission win in the second round via guillotine choke. Zalal is also coming off of his first victory, though it came in his debut versus Griffin's in his third match. Both fighters do their best work on the mat, so there's a good chance that will be the scene next Saturday. Griffin and Zalal both stand at 5-foot-10 but Griffin owns a one-inch reach advantage.

Griffin will not fight Darrick Minner at UFC Las Vegas 2 on Saturday after Minner fell ill prior to weigh-ins, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Griffin did his part in making weight for the event, but his opponent was unable to cut properly due to illness. Minner already expressed his desire to face Griffin when healthy, so it's possible the two could reconnect on a future card.
