Castaneda deserves full marks for simply outworking Kang in what, on paper, looked like a close bout. John closed with a 119-88 edge in total strikes landed, in addition to connecting on 3-of-8 takedown attempts. He was seemingly always in Kang's face despite the latter being the considerably bigger man. The first round was close, but the final 10 minutes were not.
