New date for fight versus Cerrone
LightweightOther
May 10, 2022
Lauzon will now square off against Donald Cerrone on the June 18 card, Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lauzon was originally set to take on Cerrone over the weekend at UFC 274, but Cerrone was forced to pull out due to a non-COVID illness. The new bout will take place on a UFC Fight Night card, with Lauzon looking to build off of his victory versus Jonathan Pearce and Cowboy aiming to buck a six-fight winless streak.
No longer fighting Saturday

May 7, 2022
Lauzon will no longer face Donald Cerrone at UFC 274 on Saturday since Cerrone is dealing with a non-COVID illness, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
The matchup between Cerrone and Lauzon was removed from the card just hours before the two were scheduled to fight since Cerrone was dealing with an illness following Friday's weigh-in. Randy Brown and Khaos Williams will have their welterweight bout moved to the main card.
Cerrone fight moved back one week
LightweightOther
February 15, 2022
Lauzon's upcoming fight against Donald Cerrone will now take place May 7, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The reason for the change is not yet clear. The new date shouldn't significantly impact Lauzon's preparation, as the fight has only been pushed back by a single week.
Set to return

January 28, 2022
Lauzon is expected to take on Donald Cerrone at a UFC event on April 30, MMAJunkie.com reports.

However, he will now take on Cerrone who is looking to snap a six-fight winless streak. Both fighters have combined for 64 UFC appearances.
Not ruling out return

October 22, 2019
Lauzon would not fully commit to retirement following his defeat of Jonathan Pearce via TKO (punches) at UFC Fight Night in Boston on Friday, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lauzon surprisingly dominated Pearce on Friday, requiring just 93 seconds to pick up his first knockout win in nearly 3.5 years. Leading up to the fight, Lauzon said that he told Dana White that he would retire if the fight didn't go well, but he does not want to rule out a return if he decides he wants to fight again. "I might want to do it again at some point but not right now," Lauzon said. "I understand this is such a good thing, (and) we can end this on a positive note. I understand all of the pros to being done right now, and I'm not saying that I'm not going to do that. I'm just saying I'm not 100 percent committing to that." If Lauzon does return to the octagon, it would likely be a while and take an appealing opportunity to do so, but he wants to leave the door open in case that opportunity presents itself.
