Crute lost to Alonzo Menifield via submission (guillotine choke) at 1:55 of Round 2 at UFC 290 on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Crute and Menfield fought this past February, with Crute fortunate to emerge with a majority draw. He wasn't as lucky here. Hopelessly outclassed by his opponent in terms of speed and power on the feet, Crute fired off five takedown attempts in the brief bout. He landed one, oddly right before the finish, but Menifield quickly worked his way back to his feet and choked Crute out in an instant. Jimmy appeared visibly dejected following the stoppage, immediately ripping his gloves off and leaving them in the center of the cage, a move that typically signals retirement.
