Hammered by Sean Strickland
MiddleweightUFC
October 31, 2020
Marshman lost to Sean Strickland via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was a rough night at the office for Marshman after missing weight on Friday. Of course, the weight-cutting issues could have been directly related to the fact Marshman accepted this fight on just two weeks' notice. Marshman's toughness is legendary, but he has a very one-dimensional, boxing-oriented attack and doesn't possesses the ability to generate a ton of offense in a short amount of time. This is especially problematic when he finds himself behind on the judges scorecards, as he was here. Marshman -- who has been with the UFC for the better part of four years -- is 1-4 in his past five fights dating back to October 2017.

Misses weight
MiddleweightUFC
October 30, 2020
Marshman missed weight ahead of his upcoming fight Saturday against Sean Strickland by 1.5 pounds, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Marshman perhaps understandably had a tough time making weight, as he was added fairly recently as the fill-in for Wellington Turman (illness). Per source, the fight remains on, with Marshman forfeiting 20 percent of his purse to Strickland.
Steps up on short notice
MiddleweightUFC
October 27, 2020
Marshman will step in to face Sean Strickland in a middleweight matchup at UFC on ESPN+ 39 on Saturday in Las Vegas, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Marshman hasn't made the walk to the Octagon since the summer of 2019, when he was submitted in the first round by top prospect Edmen Shahbazyan. Since then, he had a March matchup against Kevin Holland in London canceled due to COVID-19. He'll now step in on roughly two weeks' notice to take on Strickland, a former welterweight that hasn't competed since October of 2018. Despite the fact that he's moving up a weight class, Strickland still has one-inch height and three-inch reach advantages over Marshman. "The Hammer" will also enter this matchup as roughly a (+250) betting underdog.
Off relocated London card

March 15, 2020
Marshman will no longer face Kevin Holland at UFC London on Saturday, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The UFC will be cancelling the weekend's event, per an official statement, which leaves fighters like Marshman unable to secure travel plans on short notice, especially given the recently-imposed restrictions to combat the spread of COVID-19. Per MMAJunkie.com, however, the UFC is looking for a replacement opponent for Holland for an event it is attempting to host in the United States.
Booked for UFC London
MiddleweightUFC
January 27, 2020
Marshman will face Kevin Holland in a middleweight bout at UFC London on March 21.
ANALYSIS
Marshman was defeated by Edmen Shahbazyan via submission (rear-naked choke) at UFC 239 in July after he was unable to get anything going against one of the promotion's rising stars. The 30-year-old is now 1-3 with the promotion, so he could be facing an uncertain future if he's unable to be competitive at UFC London. Holland lost to Brendan Allen via submission (rear-naked choke) at UFC Boston in October after stepping in on short notice, snapping a three-fight win streak. Holland showed impressive striking skills early on but failed to get much going as the fight progressed. Holland carries advantage in both height and reach heading into the fight.

Marshman is longer scheduled to fight Markus Perez at UFC Sao Paulo on Nov. 16, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unknown as to what caused the change, but with Marshman out of the picture, Perez is now set to face off against Wellington Turman.
