Loses after missing weight
Dawodu lost to Julian Erosa via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 279 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Dawodu had made some real headway of late, picking up victories in six of his past seven bouts dating back to July 2018, but all that good work has completely evaporated in the span of 36 hours. First, Dawodu missed weight by 3.5 pounds Friday morning. He forfeited 30 percent of his purse to Erosa for the fight to continue, and then was completely outclassed for 15 minutes despite entering as a -215 favorite. Hakeem shockingly had issues with Erosa's in the stand-up, in addition to struggling in the grappling department, which was more predictable. Dawodu needs a significant rebound performance his next time out.

Misses weight Friday
Dawodu weighed in at 149.5 pounds ahead of Saturday's fight against Julian Erosa at UFC 279, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports. He will not attempt to cut down any further to reach the 146-pound featherweight limit.
ANALYSIS
Dawodu will forfeit 30 percent of his purse for Saturday's bout after coming in three and a half pounds over the featherweight limit. Despite the weight miss, Dawodu will look to earn a second straight victory after defeating Mike Trizano in February.
