Facing Jamahal Hill in title fight
Teixeira will fight Jamahal Hill for the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 283 on Jan. 21 in Brazil, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.

Dana White made the announcement Saturday after Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blachowicz fought to a split draw to close UFC 282, leaving the promotion without a light heavyweight champion. Teixeira was originally supposed to fight for the belt Saturday in a title rematch with Jiri Prochazka (shoulder), but Teixeira withdrew after Prochazka dropped out with an injury. Hill has won three straight bouts and is coming off a win over Thiago Santos in August.

Teixeira is expected to face off against Jiri Prochazka for the UFC Light Heavyweight title at UFC 282 on Dec. 10, MMAFighting.com reports.

Teixeira and Prochazka had possibly the fight of the year back in June that ended with a late rear-naked choke by Prochazka to seal the five-round bout. At 43-years-old, Teixeira doesn't have much time left, but what a feather in the cap it would be for the Brazilian to become a two-time champion and come back from what happened in June.

Teixeira lost the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship on Saturday, falling to Jiri Prochazka via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:32 of Round 5 at UFC 275 in Singapore.

It's impossible to put into words everything that went on in this fight. The bottom line is that Glover was roughly 30 seconds away from almost certainly retaining his belt in his first defense before being caught in a rear-naked choke and being forced to tap out. It's everything that took place before that which will be talked about for years to come. As expected, Teixeira was massively outgunned on the feet in terms of both speed in power. The remarkable thing is that he managed to eat everything Prochazka threw his way without issue. Sure, Glover looked wobbled at times, but he always found a way to survive. Teixeira went with a wrestling-heavy game plan, and for the most part, it worked. He forced Jiri to spend long stretches of the fight on the mat and appeared to be on the verge of a stoppage win on multiple occasions. Glover appeared to have Prochazka in trouble in Round 5 on the feet and likely would have been better served to keep the fight standing, but years of training kicked in and he instead went to the mat. He ended up tapping out shortly thereafter. Glover turns 43 years of age this coming October. The odds are against him ever fighting for a UFC title again, but no one could have ever imagined he would have won the championship in the first place.
