Drops belt in lackluster affair
WelterweightBellator
June 16, 2021
Lima lost his Bellator Welterweight Championship to Yaroslav Amosov via unanimous decision (45-50, 46-49, 46-49) at Bellator 260 on June 11 at Mohegan Sun Arena.
ANALYSIS
Compared to past fights, Lima was never able to get his hands going in this one. His dreadfully slow output, mixed with the fact he was taken down in all five rounds, led to a clean sweep for Amosov on the judges' scorecards. Lima has now lost back-to-back fights, although one was his bid to become a two-division champion by taking on middleweight Gegard Mousasi. The 33-year-old is still a tier above most welterweights on the roster, but it would be tough to pick him against Amosov in a rematch without some notable grappling improvements.

Quest for two belts on hold
WelterweightBellator
March 30, 2020
Lima will no longer face Gegard Mousasi for the vacant middleweight title at Bellator 242 on May 9, as the event has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Lima is fresh off a victory over Rory MacDonald in the Bellator Welterweight Tournament that earned him the belt and sent MacDonald packing for PFL. The next step for the 32-year-old Brazilian was going to be an attempt to become Bellator's third two division champion (Ryan Bader, Patricio Freire), but those plans will be put on hold with the promotion cancelling all three of it's May events. Lima had been approximately a (+110) betting underdog for the matchup.
Set to fight for middleweight title
WelterweightBellator
February 11, 2020
Lima will fight Gegard Mousasi for the vacant Bellator middleweight title on May 9 at the SAP Center in San Jose, according to Bellator President Scott Coker.
ANALYSIS
This matchup was announced just hours after the news broke that Rafael Lovato Jr. will relinquish his middleweight title due to health issues. Lima, who just recently took hold of the welterweight title with his victory over Rory MacDonald on Oct. 24, will move up to the middleweight division to fight Mousasi, with the winner set to become the new middleweight champion.
Regains title at Bellator 232
WelterweightBellator
October 27, 2019
Lima defeated Rory MacDonald via unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45, 49-26) to earn the Bellator Welterweight Championship at Bellator 232 on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
In prospering over MacDonald in their long-awaited rematch, Lima will win the inaugural Bellator featherweight tournament and the $1 million cash prize that comes along with it. Lima seemingly had the striking edge throughout the fight -- with his jab in particular -- but what was most impressive was his defensive wrestling. He went into this fight with zero intention of letting MacDonald take him down, and then lived up to those words. Mix in a few of his patented lower-leg kicks that had MacDonald switching stances, and you have the perfect receipt for victory for the Brazilian. With the lone exception of Ben Askren, Lima has now avenged every single one of his losses under the Bellator banner. It's unclear what the next step is for the 31-year-old, but he did mention being open to a trilogy fight with MacDonald after the bout.
Will face MacDonald in rematch
WelterweightBellator
August 28, 2019
Lima will be facing Rory MacDonald on Oct. 26 for Bellator 232.
ANALYSIS
In a rematch, Lima will look to revenge his previous defeat back in January of 2018 against MacDonald in the Bellator Welterweight Championship in Connecticut. Lima will be coming off a win over Michael Page via KO (punches) on May 12 at Bellator 221.
Advances in Grand Prix with highlight-reel KO
WelterweightBellator
May 12, 2019
Lima defeated Michael Page via KO (punches) at 0:35 of Round 2 at Bellator 221 on Saturday in Rosemont, Illinois.
ANALYSIS
Lima had presumably taken the first round after landing several leg kicks, as well as taking advantage of an over-aggressive Page superman punch attempt that ended in a Lima takedown. While Page did land in the second round and even forced Lima to retreat at one moment, it was again Page's aggressiveness that undid him. Sensing Lima was hurt, Page began walking him down and lunged forward with a punch. Lima proceeded to kick out Page's legs from under him, and when Page attempted to stand back up, Lima landed a clean right hand that knocked him out cold. He followed up with some ground-and-pound to put an exclamation point on it before referee Mike Beltran rushed in to stop the bout. The win propels Lima to the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix final, where he'll take on the winner of a June 14 matchup between Rory MacDonald and Neiman Gracie.
