Brazil

Announces unexpected retirement
WelterweightUFC
February 10, 2022
Lima announced via his person Instagram account Wednesday that he will be retiring from MMA.
ANALYSIS
Lima claims in the post that God has spoken to him and that he intends to obey him, even it means abruptly ending his fighting career. Lima is just 33 years old, and the Brazilian, who trains at American Top Team, even had a scheduled matchup against Miguel Baeza on tap for April 16. It appears that will no longer come to pass, and Lima's UFC run will reach its conclusion in the midst of a 0-2 skid.

Destroyed by Matt Brown
WelterweightUFC
June 19, 2021
Lima lost to Matt Brown via KO (punch) at 3:02 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It goes without saying that getting torched by an aging Brown won't help your chances of remaining with the company for an extended period of time. Lima actually looked halfway decent prior to the stoppage. He made a concerted effort to damage Brown with leg kicks, and the vast majority of them were finding their mark. Unfortunately for Lima, one straight punch right down the chute knocked him out cold. Lima has somehow served two tours of duty with the UFC despite posting a 4-7 career mark with the company. He lacks athleticism and struggles to generate offense outside of the most basic attacks. There is no guarantee the UFC runs him back out there after this effort.

Lima will fight Matt Brown at the UFC Event in June, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though the UFC has yet too officially announced the details of the event, Lima will be facing Brown on June 19. Lima will be coming off a loss via unanimous decision against Belal Muhammad at UFC 258 in Las Vegas on Feb. 13. On the other hand, Brown will look to bounce back from two straight defeats to Miguel Baeza and Carlos Condit.
Not competitive at UFC 258
WelterweightUFC
February 13, 2021
Lima lost to Belal Muhammad via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 258 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Lima entered as one of the biggest underdogs on the entire card at +375 and it's easy to see why. Outside of plenty of vicious, well placed leg kicks, Lima did little throughout the course of the fight. He allowed Muhammad to consistently force him up against the cage and generally served as a punching bag for the entirety of the bout. Lima simply doesn't possess the offensive or defensive skill set to consistently succeed against better competition. He did enter Saturday's bout on a three-fight winning streak, but two of those were split decisions over Luke Jumeau and Court McGee and the third was a knockout over Chad Laprise, who hasn't fought since. The odds are strongly against Lima making any sort of run at age 32.
