You can watch this sport for an awful long time and not see a fighter gas out as bad as Lane did in this one. Austen dominated Round 1 on the strength of a takedown and top control time. Yet, the shots early in Round 2 became weaker, and Diniz managed to stay upright. From there, Lane had no shot. He absorbed a few heavy blows but nothing that appeared to be all that damaging. Truth be told, Lane was more exhausted than anything else, eventually topping over face first to the canvas, forcing referee Mark Smith to step in. Lane played in the NFL, so he's obviously an elite athlete, but he's now 36 years of age and has very little pro MMA experience.
