Dominates in UFC debut
Khizriev defeated Denis Tiuliulin via technical submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:58 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Columbus, Ohio.
ANALYSIS
Plenty of knowledgeable people are high on Khizriev, and it's easy to see why. Undefeated as a professional and making his UFC debut as a -1000 favorite, Khizriev -- a product of Dana White's Contender Series -- showed off his all-around arsenal in his maiden voyage with the company. He was effective on the feet and landed 2-of-3 takedown attempts, good for 2:46 worth of control time in the brief bout. The finish was a thing of beauty, as he easily grabbed a hold of Tiuliulin's neck and choked him unconscious before his opponent even had a chance to tap out. We'll have to see how Khizriev looks against better competition, but he couldn't have been any better in this one.

Making UFC debut in Columbus
Khizriev (undisclosed) is scheduled to face Abusupiyan Magomedov (24-4-1) in a middleweight bout March 26 at the UFC's event in Columbus, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Both fighters will be making their UFC debuts in Columbus, after Khizriev (13-0-0) was previously forced to back out of a matchup with Alessio Di Chirico this past August due to an unspecified injury. Now healthy, Khizriev will put his unbeaten record on the line as he returns to the Octagon for the first time since earning a contract as part of the Contender Series in September 2020, when he submitted Henrique Shiguemoto.
