Strong showing in easy victory
Magomedov defeated Warlley Alves via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Magomedov has shown plenty of ability in his brief UFC run, but cardio has been a serious problem. It was no such issue in this fight against Alves because he spent nearly the entire bout in a dominant position on the mat. Give Abus credit, he recognized a flaw in his opponent and exploited it to the tune of six takedowns for 11:56 worth of control time. That said, this performance, while impressive, doesn't answer any of our concerns regarding Magomedov moving forward. The 33-year-old improves to 2-2 in his first four UFC bouts.

Set to face Alves in May
Magomedov will face Warlley Alves in a middleweight bout at UFC Vegas 92 on May 18, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Magomedov has lost his last two events, against Sean Strickland and Caio Borralho, and has absolutely no margin for error if he wants to extend his time with the company. He hasn't won since defeating Dustin Stoltzfus in his UFC debut on Sep. 2022.

Cardio again an issue in defeat
Magomedov lost to Caio Borralho via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
Just four months ago, Magomedov was dominating the man that is now UFC Middleweight Champion, Sean Strickland. Then the second round started and Abus was done. He didn't gas out anywhere near as badly in this fight as he did in that one, but Magomedov clearly tired once again as the bout progressed. There was actually a case to be made he was up two rounds heading into the final frame. It ended up feeling like a rout when all was said and done, but Magomedov actually looked reasonably strong most of this fight against a good opponent. His margin for error now completely gone, Abus will likely need a win his next time out in order to extend his time with the company.

Scheduled against Borralho
Magomedov will compete against Caio Borralho in a middleweight fight at UFC Sao Paulo on Nov. 4, according to Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com.
ANALYSIS
Magomedov took a short-notice fight against Borralho, who was scheduled to fight Nursulton Ruziboev before he withdrew citing undisclosed reasons. Magomedov will try to redeem himself after suffering a defeat at the hands of eventual UFC Middleweight Champion Sean Strickland.
