Hot
Daniel Alfredsson (F) Ottawa - The ageless spark plug has been impressive in the past few weeks tallying 7 points and picking up 5 goals in the last five games he has played. However, he did leave practice early this week with an undisclosed injury, but that looks to be purely a precautionary measure.
Mikko Koivu (F) Minnesota - Koivu has been on fire so far this season and after picking up an assist on Saturday he now has a point in every Wild game this year except one. With 3 goals, 11 points, and a plus-5 rating he continues to lead his team and does not look to be slowing down anytime soon.
Cold
Nick Foligno (F) Ottawa- Many fantasy hockey managers and Senators fans alike expected big things from Foligno this year but he has simply not delivered. He has all the talent to become a top 6 forward in the league but has only managed to muster 3 assists in 11 games so far this year.
Rick Nash (F) Columbus - To be fair, the entire Blue Jackets offense has looked pretty anemic as of late, but Nash is at the forefront of it all. He has been held scoreless in the last five games and has only managed 5 points in the first 10 games of the season. There is no reason to think that the speedy winger will not bounce back, but for now he is struggling to say the least.
Recommended Pickup
Mathieu Garon (G) Columbus - This recommended pickup is only geared towards those willing to take a risk and in need of help at the backend of their team. Columbus has not shown a whole lot of offensive prowess to support their goalies so far this season, but Garon could have value now and later into the season. With starting goaltender Steve Mason struggling to the tune of a 5-3 record and a 3.30 GAA, Garon has stepped in nicely with a 2-0 record and a 1.50 GAA so far this season. On top of that, keep in mind the fact that Garon is 7-0-4 in 12 starts at home with the Blue Jackets and his upside becomes pretty obvious for those in deeper leagues.
Tyler Bozak (F) Toronto - Bozak has been a disappointment so far this season which means he should be available in the majority of fantasy leagues right now. While he may only have 1 goal on the season so far, Toronto will be entertaining the Senators tonight which could be the spark the young center needs. Last year Bozak picked up 4 points in just 3 games against Ottawa and you can believe he would love to repeat those numbers tonight.
