Sim is the type of player you want on your team but hate to play against. A poor man's Sean Avery who tries to agitate the other team. Sim has no problem standing in front of the net and should score 10+ goals.
The Islanders tried to shed themselves of Sim's million dollar contract last year and placed him on waivers twice. There were no takers, though, so it appears the Isles are stuck with him again. It's not known how or where the team wants to use him in 2009-10, but if it's at the NHL level, his ceiling is probably 30 points at best.
Sim missed all but two games in the 2007-08 season due to a knee injury. He had posted back-to-back 17 goal campaigns prior to last season, so he can chip in some points. However, he's best suited for third or fourth line play, so don't expect much more than 30 points.
Sim has started to pick up some minimal value the last two seasons, posting consecutive 17-goals campaigns. However, he hasn’t brought much of anything else to the table. 15 assists two years ago was followed by 12 this past year. He’s a player you pick up if he’s on a hot streak and have a spot to fill, but one to avoid on draft day.
The 29 year old had his best season in the NHL with Florida and Philadelphia last year setting career highs in goals (17), assists (15), points (32), games (72) and penalty minutes (54). The Thrashers are his eighth team which is a testament to his value. Good enough to be an NHLer but not good enough to make an impact. Expect Sim to hit the 30 point plateau and if he managed to find some time on the top two lines those totals could go up 10 or 20 points.
