This article is part of our FantasyDraft NHL series.
Sunday is the last day before the NHL trade deadline. Some of the guys on the ice may be playing their last game with their current team. As for daily fantasy hockey, though, here are some players I recommend from the four games Sunday evening.
GOALIE
Minnesota Wild, MIN vs. SAN ($15,900): For whatever reason, the Wild have been way better at home than on the road this year. In fact, they have a 2.16 team GAA in home games, which is best in the NHL, while going 20-5-6 in its own arena. The Sharks, on the other hand, have only averaged 2.55 goals per game on the road. Devan Dubnyk is expected to start at this article's publish time.
CENTER
Ryan Getzlaf, ANA vs. EDM ($14,400): Getzlaf has been impressive during the limited time he's been healthy with 38 points in 98 games. The Oilers are on the road for the second night of a back-to-back, and since Cam Talbot started Saturday, Al Montoya (3.23 GAA, .879 save percentage) could be in net. Edmonton also has the league's worst penalty kill, and Getzlaf has averaged 2:51 per game with the extra man.
Kevin Hayes, NYR vs. DET ($7,600): Hayes has picked up his play recently, notching eight points in his last eight games. His minutes have also increased since returning from an injury absence. In his last 13 games, he's averaged 17:40 in ice time (including 1:49 on the power play). The Red Wings are playing their second game of a back-to-back, and since Petr Mrazek was traded, Jared Coreau could be the starter in this one. To this point, Coreau has a 3.46 GAA and an .887 save percentage in his career.
WING
Brock Boeser, VAN at ARI ($13,400): Boeser, as you likely know, has torn it up as a rookie. He's tallied 27 goals and 24 assists through 51 games, and he's registered 23 points with the extra man. Arizona is on the second night of a back-to-back. With zero days of rest, the Coyotes have a 4.22 team GAA and have allowed 37.0 shots on net per contest. Though the newly added Darcy Kuemper will be in goal for this one, his .932 save percentage in 19 games is well above his career average of .913. On that front, Kuemper also has a 4.43 GAA and an .868 save percentage in his last three outings.
Corey Perry, ANA vs. EDM ($11,500): Perry is having something of a down year, but he has averaged 3:03 per game with the extra man. He's also tallied 10 power-play points in 52 games. The veteran has also improved his production recently, tallying 10 points and 49 shots on goal in his last 16 contests. The Oilers have a 3.25 team GAA, which ranks in the bottom five in the NHL, and as previously noted no team has a worse penalty kill.
Anthony Mantha, DET at NYR ($10,300): Mantha has notched 20 goals, including nine on the power play, through 59 games. The Rangers have a 3.13 team GAA and have given up 34.1 shots on net per game, but they've been even worse recently. Since the All-Star break, they have a league-worst 3.92 team GAA and have allowed 35.3 shots on goal per contest. Even though Mantha is playing his second game in as many days, this is still a great matchup.
DEFENSEMEN
Oscar Klefbom, EDM at ANA ($11,100): Though a rough 1.8 shooting percentage is keeping Klefbom's goal total down, he's registered six assists and 35 shots on net in his last 11 games. With John Gibson injured and with the Ducks playing their second game in as many nights, either Ryan Miller will have to pull double duty or Reto Berra will be in goal for this one. Since the Ducks have given up 33.5 shots on net per game, either scenario could bode well for Klefbom.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson, ARI vs. VAN ($9,000): As trade rumors circle, Ekman-Larsson has tallied five points in his last five games. This has given him 30 points overall, including 11 on the power play. The Canucks have a 3.23 team GAA, and that number has come in at 3.45 since the All-Star break. Vancouver also has the 26th-ranked penalty kill, which sets up a productive night for Ekman-Larsson. Just make sure he isn't traded or deemed inactive before lineup lock.
