Jones' chances to to contribute in 2021 were boosted by the unfortunate Achilles' injury that befell top back Cam Akers in July. The Rams did add Sony Michel in late August, but only after a full month of Jones and Jake Funk competing for the backup job. Even if he's only third or fourth on the Week 1 depth chart, Jones could benefit from his busy summer, perhaps filling in if likely lead back Darrell Henderson is injured or ineffective.
