2024 Fantasy Outlook
Vaki is a rare athlete that has experience playing on both sides of the ball, operating as a running back and safety for Utah prior to being selected by Detroit in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. With David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs already set to handle the bulk of the workload in the Lions backfield this season, Vaki will have to compete with Craig Reynolds for a depth role, making his path towards production on offense rather murky. The 5-11, 210-pound athlete seems more likely to see the bulk of his playing time on special teams in the early going. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
First touches since Week 6
Vaki rushed the ball five times for nine yards in Sunday's 52-6 win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Vaki entered the game in the fourth quarter with the Lions well out in front, turning a career-high five carries into nine yards. The rookie remains an extreme depth option in Detroit's backfield, playing only nine offensive snaps before Sunday's blowout victory.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Outplayed by Reynolds at RB
Vaki is lagging behind Craig Reynolds in the competition for the third spot on Detroit's running back depth chart, according to Justin Rogers of DetroitFootball.net.
ANALYSIS
Vaki has made some rookie mistakes early in training camp, including running a wrong route in a red-zone drill Friday. Even if Vaki remains buried behind Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery and Reynolds on the depth chart, the 2024 fourth-round draft pick is still likely to secure a spot on Detroit's 53-man roster, especially since the versatile rookie can also contribute at safety. Vaki seems unlikely to see significant action at running back in 2024 barring a rash of injuries in the Lions backfield.
