Mannion served as the backup to Kirk Cousins last season and started one game, a Week 17 loss at Green Bay, when he completed 22 of 36 passes for 189 yards and one touchdown and rushed two times for 14 yards. The seven-year pro didn't perform terribly given the tough opponent, but he certainly didn't create any possibility of a quarterback controversy in Minnesota. Mannion again will battle 2021 third-rounder Kellen Mond for the No. 2 role. Mond has more long-term upside, but Mannion at least provides a credible passing threat if needed for a short-term stint.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Making first start since 2019
Mannion will start Sunday's game against the Packers after Kirk Cousins tested positive for COVID-19, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Mannion was just on the COVID list himself after testing positive, but he was reinstated to the active roster Friday and will make his first start since Week 17 of 2019. The 29-year-old has completed 45 of 74 passes for 384 yards with zero touchdowns and three interceptions for his career, so he isn't worth much fantasy consideration. Rookie Kellen Mond is poised to serve as Minnesota's No. 2 quarterback for Sunday's divisional contest, which could bring an end to the team's playoff chances for 2021.
