Speights was on the field for 39 snaps on defense, nearly equal to Byron Young and Jared Verse, and will likely keep hold of his newfound role on defense against a Patriots offense averaging the lowest number of yards per game (271.1) in the NFL in Week 11.

Rams general manager Les Snead said Saturday that Speights will make the 53-man roster and be active on game days, per Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic.

Speights made a strong impression during training camp after signing with the Rams in May as an undrafted free agent out of LSU. Not only has he locked up a roster spot, it looks like the inside linebacker is poised to see meaningful playing time. The Rams also informed starting inside linebacker Ernest Jones that he's on the trade block, and Speights would be a leading candidate to fill the playing time void should Jones be traded.
