Kalil was released by the Texans on Sunday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kalil signed a one-year deal with the Texans in March and was expected to begin the season as the starter at left tackle, but the trade acquisition of Laremy Tunsil made Kalil expendable. The 30-year-old looks as though he'll enter the 2019 season as a free agent.

Kalil is the starting left tackle. He's coming off disappointing season, but did play hurt as he had both of his knees scoped in January.
Kahil is Minnesota's starting left tackle. The 2012 first-round draft pick was seen as a key component of a playoff team in 2012, but struggled last season and had minor knee surgery in the offseason. Perhaps the injury limited his play, but his rebound will be key to reviving Minnesota's offense.
After a stellar rookie season, Kalil was selected to his first career Pro Bowl. He will return to start at left tackle.
Kalil, the No. 4 overall pick in April's draft, is being counted on to be a pillar of the Vikings' offensive line for years to come, where he is already penciled in as the team's starting left tackle.
