2024 Fantasy Outlook
Musgrave is coming off an up-and-down rookie season. The second-round pick out of Oregon State was an immediate starter and averaged 3.3 catches for 34.1 yards over his first 10 games, but he then missed six weeks with a lacerated kidney and worked behind fellow rookie Tucker Kraft in Week 18 and the playoffs. Musgrave added 66 yards and a touchdown in two playoff games, though most of that production came courtesy of a 38-yard score on a blown coverage in Dallas. The Packers drafted Kraft one round after Musgrave last spring, and Kraft came on strong during Musgrave's absence to ultimately finish with three more yards and one more touchdown during the regular season. The two may continue to cut into each other’s production, in addition to competing for targets with Green Bay's deep group of wide receivers. Musgrave’s 6-foot-6, 253-pound frame and 4.61 speed make him one of the better raw athletes among NFL tight ends, while Kraft was more prolific as a receiver in college and may be the more polished player at this stage. It's a good problem for the Packers to have... less so for fantasy managers. Read Past Outlooks
Lands on injured reserve
The Packers placed Musgrave (ankle) on injured reserve Friday.
ANALYSIS
During a media session Thursday, coach Matt LaFleur revealed that Musgrave "more than likely" would require an IR stint due to the ankle injury that has plagued him the last two weeks, per Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site. Now that the move is official, the team will lean on Tucker Kraft to continue handling a majority share of the TE snaps, while Ben Sims and John FitzPatrick, who was signed off the Falcons' practice squad this week, will be on hand for any reps that linger. LaFleur also told Hodkiewicz that there's hope Musgrave will return later in the season, which implies he may miss more than the required four games on IR during his recovery.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
The Packers needed a tight end in the 2023 Draft as much as any team, and they didn't wait long to snag one, picking up Musgrave in the second round. A knee injury limited him to just two games last season, but he was healthy by the NFL Combine and graded out extremely well athletically. Musgrave lacked meaningful production at Oregon State, but he did record at least 80 yards in three of his last four collegiate appearances, so Green Bay may have found a diamond in the rough. Given where he was selected and the fact Josiah Deguara is the most proven TE on the roster, Musgrave has a chance to open the season as the Packers starter at the position.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
To IR with serious injury
Musgrave was placed on injured reserve Wednesday due to the lacerated kidney he suffered versus the Chargers in Week 11, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie was originally believed to have suffered an abdominal injury, but the specifics of the issue are of an even more serious nature. Although Musgrave will be eligible to return after four games, Demovsky notes there's no guarantee the tight end will be able to play again this season. Musgrave actually finished the game against the Chargers and later reported the injury to the team's medical staff.
