Levine Toilolo

After five seasons with Atlanta, Toilolo hasn't done much more than establish himself as a durable blocking tight end who can double as a capable red-zone threat in two-TE packages. With Luke Willson and Michael Roberts around to catch passes in Detriot, his role shouldn't change much with the Lions, leaving the Stanford product unworthy of fantasy consideration yet again.

When the Falcons drafted Toilolo in the fourth round of the 2013 draft, they knew he wouldn't be able to live up to the production of Tony Gonzalez, who would retire after Toilolo's rookie season, but they certainly hoped he'd be more of a weapon than he's become. Toilolo failed to capitalize when he was the starter, and the Falcons decided to draft Austin Hooper in the third round last year. Neither player stood out last season, but Hooper is projected to be the starter when the season begins. If the Falcons truly believe Hooper is a viable option in the future, Toilolo may struggle to produce numbers similar to his disappointing 2016 campaign when he caught 13 balls for 264 yards and two touchdowns.

The Falcons had high hopes for the 6-foot-8 Toilolo, but he's failed to really live up to expectations in three years with the team. He played second fiddle to veteran Jacob Tamme last year, as Toilolo only managed to haul in seven receptions over the course of the season. The big tight end certainly has some real world value as a blocker on the offensive line, but he's unlikely to be a large factor in the passing game in 2016.

Toilolo wasn't going to make anyone forget about Tony Gonzalez last year, but expectations were still probably too high. At 6-8, 265, Toilolo was assumed to have a decent floor, at least in the red zone where his size could be a weapon. But that never materialized as he was an afterthought in the passing game, instead used mostly as a blocker. He got a handful of red-zone targets and scored twice, but he showed little upside as he had trouble executing routes and getting separation. Toilolo, though, still has great physical attributes - leaping ability, large wingspan and speed. And while last year's offense reduced the position's role in the passing game, tight end has always been a heavy staple of new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. If Toilolo can improve his route-running to get open more quickly, he could at least be a checkdown option for Matt Ryan. And with his size, he likely be given more chances in the red zone. If he fails to develop, though, he could quickly be overtaken by veteran stopgaps Jacob Tamme and Tony Moeaki, who signed this offseason.

A 2013 fourth-round pick out of Stanford, Toilolo takes over this season for the retired Tony Gonzalez, who averaged 121 targets a year in his five seasons with the Falcons. Atlanta is expected to reduce the tight-end role in the offense this season, and coach Mike Smith said in May that Toilolo will not split wide as Gonzalez often lined up. But even if Toilolo doesn't move the chains like Gonzalez, he still figures to at least be a big weapon in the red zone at 6-8, 265. (Last season, he scored twice on six targets inside the 10-yard line.) He also has good leaping ability, a big wingspan (34.5-inch arm length) and impressive speed for his size (4.77 40). While he did not play much last season (he averaged 10 snaps a game), he took a lot of the first-team reps with quarterback Matt Ryan in practice because of Gonzalez's limited schedule. Bear Pascoe, a career backup blocking tight end, was signed in May, but he's not expected to push Toilolo for snaps. Toilolo, who started ahead of Coby Fleener and Zach Ertz at Stanford in 2010 before tearing his ACL, is still developing, but his upside is tremendous.

Toilolo could be used in the red-zone as a rookie, but he is unlikely to see enough targets to be useful in fantasy.
