Can't secure roster spot
The Chiefs waived Book on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Book, who spent the entire offseason with Kansas City, couldn't secure a spot on the initial 53-man roster but may be a candidate to resurface on the practice squad. A 2021 fourth-round pick by the Saints, Book's only career appearance came as a rookie with New Orleans.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
After being selected in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Book started in just one game last season as the Saints' No. 3 quarterback behind Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian. Book struggled in his only start, completing just 12 of 20 passes for 135 yards and two interceptions. In his second year, the 24-year-old figures to remain as the team's third string quarterback with Jameis Winston starting and newly-acquired Andy Dalton serving as the primary backup. If both top options stay healthy, Book will likely not see playing time in the 2022 campaign.

Cut candidate
Eric Edholm of NFL.com doesn't think Book will make the Saints' 2022 roster.
ANALYSIS
New Orleans has traditional quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton on the roster, while the versatile Taysom Hill has previously filled in respectably under center while playing a dual-threat style similar to Book's. Book will likely need to prove capable of outperforming Hill to make the team, and the 2021 fourth-round pick has failed to do so up to this point in preseason, throwing for just 234 yards with a 1:2 TD:INT over almost two full games.
