Headed to NFL
Book accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl, confirming that he'll enter the 2021 NFL Draft rather than returning to Notre Dame for a sixth season next fall, Bryan Driskell of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Notre Dame received a commitment Monday from one of the top quarterbacks on the transfer market in ex-Wisconsin signal-caller Jack Coan, something that signaled the Fighting Irish weren't counting on Book using his final year of eligibility in 2021. In his third season as a full-time starter in 2020, Book completed 64.6 percent of his passes for 8.0 yards per attempt and a 15:3 TD:INT to go with 485 rushing yards and a career-high nine touchdowns on the ground. With Book out of the picture, Coan will likely be the frontrunner to replace him in a quarterback competition that also includes sophomore Drew Pyne and junior Brendon Clark.
