2024 Fantasy Outlook
Lock signed with the Giants in March as the backup to Daniel Jones, who might not be ready for the start of the season after a November ACL injury and hasn’t exactly cemented himself as the Giants’ long-term answer anyway. The door seemingly is cracked for Lock to take the starting job, at least early in the season. That wasn’t the case the last two years in Seattle, where Lock was firmly behind Geno Smith, which partially explains why he bolted for New York. At 6-4, 228, Lock has prototypical size and arm strength, and he was credible in two starts for an injured Smith last season, completing 68.8 percent of his attempts at a 7.5-yard average depth. He won’t have as much help in New York, with Malik Nabers, the sixth overall pick in this year’s draft, leading an otherwise mediocre group of skill-position players that had Saquon Barkley replaced by Devin Singletary this offseason. Five total TDs in upset win
Lock completed 17 of 23 passes for 309 yards and four touchdowns in Sunday's 45-33 win over the Colts. He also rushed five times for no gain and scored a rushing touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Lock threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Malik Nabers in the first quarter, then added touchdowns of 32 yards to Darius Slayton and five yards to Wan'Dale Robinson in the second. After a quiet third quarter, Lock came alive with a 59-yard touchdown pass to Nabers in the fourth quarter, then ran in a game-sealing five-yard touchdown with 2:57 remaining. This productive outing came out of nowhere considering Lock came in with a 1:4 TD:INT in three previous starts this season. After posting his best passing yardage total since a 339-yard performance in Week 18 of the 2021 season with the Broncos, Lock will look to put on an encore in Week 18 against an Eagles team that has already wrapped up the NFC East.

Lock lost an open quarterback competition to Geno Smith before last season, and Smith played his way into a three-year, $105 million contract. Nevertheless, Lock accepted a one-year, $4 million deal to be the backup in Seattle in 2023. He's only 26 years old and is a fine backup with a career 6.7 yards per attempt and 25:20 TD:INT, but he'll be hard-pressed to find a starting job unless he can prove himself further. If he manages to get playing time in Seattle, however, he's set up well for success with DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba at wide receiver.

Returning to starting role
Lock, who's been dealing with a heel injury, is expected to be healthy enough to start Sunday's game against the Falcons, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Lock was sidelined in Week 15 against the Ravens due to both the heel injury and a left elbow issue. However, he ditched his walking boot earlier in the week and returned to practice in limited fashion Wednesday, leading head coach Brian Daboll to say he thought Lock would be healthy enough to play versus Atlanta.
