2024 Fantasy Outlook
Culp was the 12th and final tight end to hear his name called in the 2024 NFL Draft, going to the Buccaneers with the 246th overall pick in Round 7. Tampa Bay’s a decent landing spot for a tight end looking to make an impact right away. Cade Otton has a firm grasp on the starting job going into his third NFL season, but the depth chart behind the 2022 fourth-round draft pick consists of three unproven late picks in recent drafts: 2022 sixth-round pick Ko Kieft, 2023 fifth-rounder Payne Durham, and Culp. Though Culp accounted for only 474 of Michael Penix’s 9,544 passing yards in 28 games at Washington over the past two seasons, the 6-foot-3, 231-pound tight end ran a blazing fast 4.47-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. Culp underwhelmed statistically in college and will need to greatly improve his blocking to earn consistent playing time, but his measurables give him some fantasy upside as a pass-catching tight end/wide receiver hybrid.
