The Cardinals cut McDonald on Thursday, Kyle Odegard of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals now only have Colt McCoy and Chris Streveler behind Kyler Murray on the offseason roster. McDonald, who joined the NFL as a 2020 seventh-round pick of the Titans, will look to continue his development elsewhere.

While it remains to be seen if the commitment to Ryan Tannehill pays dividends, Derrick Henry will surely power Tennessee’s ground game.
2020 Fantasy Outlook
McDonald was a seventh-round pick in the 2020 draft after foregoing his final season of eligibility at Hawaii. He recorded strong numbers in both his red shirt freshman and sophomore seasons, tallying over 8,000 passing yards and 70 touchdowns combined. However, he'll face a steep transition to the NFL after facing a relatively low level of competition in college -- a challenge only enhanced by this year's altered offseason. McDonald will also have to overcome a hitch in his throwing motion, something he's already worked to correct during his college career. Overall, McDonald is likely in for an uphill battle to be the primary backup to Ryan Tannehill in 2020, though his athleticism should help his case to stick as a viable backup in future seasons.

Gets look in Arizona
The Cardinals hosted McDonald for a tryout Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
McDonald was drafted by the Titans in the seventh round back in April, but he was cut early in training camp. The Hawaii product is getting another look with Arizona because quarterback Kyler Murray (lower leg) is uncertain to suit up for the Week 17 matchup against the Rams. If Murray ends up sidelined, McDonald may be signed to serve as the No. 3 quarterback behind Chris Streveler and Brett Hundley.
