April 19, 2021
The Washington Football Team waived Love (knee) on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Love was a Heisman runner-up for Stanford in 2017, but he's struggled to stay healthy ever since tearing an ACL toward the end of his senior season (December 2018). Washington took a shot on the young RB in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, but Love still hasn't played in an NFL game. He spent the final three months of last season on injured reserve.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2019
Love has become a cautionary tale for players that choose to stay in college rather than entering the NFL Draft. He was the Heisman runner-up back in 2017 at Stanford, but he chose to return for 2018 and struggled through a disappointing season that ended with an ACL tear in August. Love then went to Washington in the fourth round of the 2019 draft, redshirting his rookie season and undergoing a follow-up knee surgery in October. With Adrian Peterson no longer in the mix, he'll compete for backfield work with Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic and Peyton Barber.
Despite building first-round NFL hype after rushing for 2,118 yards his junior season, Love made the unusual decision to return for a fourth campaign at Stanford. He found out why most players leave for the pros as soon as possible, struggling through an injury-plagued senior year in which he averaged just 4.5 yards per carry before seeing his campaign cut short in December due to a torn ACL. The Redskins saw enough talent to use a fourth-round pick on the 2017 Heisman runner-up, with the team able to take a patient approach while Derrius Guice, Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson lead the backfield in 2019. Love may ultimately be stashed on injured reserve with an eye on him contributing in the second half of the season, or in 2020.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Role still awaits with Washington
RBWashington Commanders
November 11, 2020
Coach Ron Rivera said Wednesday hat he "most certainly" envisions Love (knee) having a role once he's activated from injured reserve, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rivera noted that Love, who resumed practicing Wednesday, showcased "quickness," "burst" and "good hands out of the backfield." The coach talked up the 23-year-old's potential to serve as a versatile backfield weapon, citing Love's abilities to run both inside and outside and catch passes. Of course, before Love can realize any of the potential Rivera recognizes, he'll have to prove his knee is in sound health. After having most of his final season at Stanford wiped out while he recovered from a torn ACL, Love has yet to make his Washington debut since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
