2024 Fantasy Outlook
Armstead spent the first nine seasons of his NFL career in San Francisco but joined Jacksonville during the offseason on a three-year, $51 million deal. He had 27 tackles and five sacks last season but was limited to 12 games due to foot and knee injuries, the latter of which required offseason surgery. Armstead has played in just 21 contests over the last two years, though in the four prior seasons he didn't miss a game. The 30-year-old isn't likely to be on the IDP radar but should be a defensive anchor for the Jags if he can stay healthy. Read Past Outlooks

Disappoints in Jacksonville
Armstead tallied 29 total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, and three passes defended over 17 games in 2024.
ANALYSIS
The veteran defensive lineman inked a three-year, $51 million deal with the Jaguars this past offseason after spending the first nine seasons of his career with the 49ers. Armstead's first season in Jacksonville was underwhelming, as he recorded just 2.0 sacks, tying his rookie year for the lowest total of his career when appearing in 16 or more games in a season. However, the 31-year-old did tie his career high in passes defended in a single season. Having signed a large contract with Jacksonville in 2024, Armstead is expected to remain one of the team's top interior defensive linemen in 2025.

Armstead dealt with a lower-body injury that caused him to miss eight games and finish with just 11 tackles and no sacks in 2022. The 29-year-old had begun to develop into an interior pass-rush threat while showing good durability - 16 or more games in the four previous seasons - before regressing last year. Armstead still is under contract through 2024, so it will be interesting to see how new defensive coordinator Steve Wilks deploys the versatile lineman after the team signed star defensive tackle Javon Hargrave this offseason.

Felt disrespected by 49ers' offer
On his podcast 'Third and Long' on Thursday, Armstead said that he felt "extremely disrespected" by the 49ers' offer of a one-year deal worth up to $8 million with incentives, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Armstead acknowledged the business nature of the NFL, adding that heading into the season he felt like "I might play myself out of being in San Francisco." Given the 49ers have a large portion of their cap space tied to Javon Hargrave and Nick Bosa, there simply was not enough room for Armstead, who finished the 2023 season with 27 tackles, including 5.0 sacks, over 12 games. After being released by the 49ers, Armstead signed a three-year, $43.5 million with the Jaguars on March 14.
