Talib announced his decision to retire from the NFL via his personal Twitter account Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Talib suited up for five contests with the Rams in 2019 before suffering broken ribs and being traded to Miami for salary relief. The five-time Pro Bowler will be best remembered for his outstanding play in Denver as part of the "No Fly Zone," where he suited up from 2014 to 2017 and played a key role in winning Super Bowl 50. His 2013 performance in New England also earned Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors.

Opponents shied away from Talib during his debut season with the Rams, as there were only 25 pass attempts (13 completions) thrown his way over eight regular-season games. Of course, he was limited to just eight games after suffering a high-ankle sprain that required surgery Week 3 and kept him out through Los Angeles' bye Week 12. It wouldn't be surprising if teams continued to attack the Rams defense elsewhere, so another mediocre fantasy campaign could be in store for LA's top cover corner.
An offseason trade sent Talib from Denver to Los Angeles, and the 2016 first-team All-Pro will reunite with defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, who served in the same role for the Broncos in 2015 and 2016. This move could benefit Talib from an IDP standpoint considering he might see more attention from opposing quarterbacks while playing alongside fellow 2016 All-Pro corner Marcus Peters. While it's true Talib played with another elite corner in Denver, Chris Harris Jr. saw a lot of time in the slot, which allowed defenses to throw away from Talib on the perimeter. The 10-year vet has 72 pass breakups in the last five years - which ranks among the top in the league since 2013 - and he's about to become much more fantasy relevant in 2018 should he actually become more involved from a tackling standpoint.
As the rangy corner recovers from bullet wounds to his leg, his first hurdle will be to avoid suspension. Talib's antics have gotten him suspended in the past, so any gun-related public activity should raise eyebrows in the league office. So long as he's on the field, Talib is the Broncos' most dangerous cover man - returning two picks for touchdowns in each of his two seasons in Denver.
Talib joined the Broncos in March after signing a six-year, $57 million contract that included $26 million guaranteed, the most ever given to a cornerback at the time. There is no doubting Talib's abilities, but he's struggled to avoid the injury bug in his career, failing to play in 16 games in any of his six seasons. In fact, after playing 15 games in both of his first two seasons, Talib has played 11, 13, 10 and 13, respectively. He is likely to be avoided by most cornerbacks, who will choose to pick on rookie Bradley Roby on the other side of the field, although Talib does have a solid ability to pick off passes, registering four interceptions last year.
Overall, Talib recorded 40 tackles and two picks in 10 games this past season, but more importantly he helped solidify a leaky Patriots' secondary with his capable play at left cornerback, where he remains the team's starter. His tackle totals aren't especially IDP-friendly, but Talib can help out those in deeper formats if he regains some of the ball-hawking prowess he displayed earlier in his career with the Bucs, a reasonable expectation while playing his first full season for New England.
Talib is coming off a season in which he had 34 tackles (31 solo), two interceptions (both returned for touchdowns), and 11 passes defensed in 13 games played. It was a bit of down year for the CB, as he flashed more playmaking ability in previous years. That being said he will still start at CB in 2012 for the Bucs and he may able to return to a higher-tackle, higher-interception player.
Talib has the talent to be a Pro-Bowl corner, but his constant off the field problems could cost him his career someday. For now, Talib should be back in 2011 starting at cornerback opposite Rhonde Barber. He may miss some games due to suspension in 2011, due to being charged with assault with a deadly weapon over the summer. As long as Talib is on the field he will surely get his share of interceptions, fumble recoveries, and tackles as he is a physical ball-hawk that is worthy of a pickup in IDP leagues that require a corner.
Talib had a solid first season as a starting corner in 2009 as he had 64 tackles and tied for the team lead with five interceptions in 15 games played. As long as he can keep out of trouble he has the talent to be one of the better corners in the league.
Talib will take over for the departed Phillip Buchanon as the starting cornerback opposite Rhonde Barber. Talib clearly has the talent to be a starting cornerback in the NFL but he needs to stay out of trouble off the field, which has been a problem for him.
First-round draft pick in 2008; will compete for starting left cornerback role, could also return kicks.

Minnesota could be a fit
CBFree Agent

Talib could be a player the Vikings target in free agency, ESPN's Courtney Cronin reports.
ANALYSIS
Given that the Vikings have lost Trae Waynes, Mackensie Alexander and Xavier Rhodes in free agency, the team needs to add cornerback depth, with Cronin suggesting that Talib could be someone the team could add on affordable terms. Others who might fit that bill include Tramon Williams, Prince Amukamara and Tramaine Brock.
