Rest-of-Season Projections
Let go by Panthers
Carolina released Bouye (foot) on Monday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bouye missed the final four games of the 2021 campaign due to a foot injury, but there was optimism he could return before the end of the season, so health shouldn't interfere with his prospects on the open market. The 30-year-old cornerback could now be on track to suit up for his fourth different team in as many years.

Bouye signed with the Panthers this offseason after playing just seven games last term due to a dislocated shoulder before being hit with a six-game suspension for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drugs policy. The 29-year-old cornerback will need to serve two more games of that punishment to begin this season, but once cleared to play he could compete with Donte Jackson and Rashaan Melvin for the starting cornerback job opposite rookie first-rounder Jaycee Horn.

Could be expendable
The Panthers may opt to move on from Bouye this offseason, according to Joe Person of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Carolina drafted a pair of cornerbacks last season, including Jaycee Horn in the first round, and the Panthers also traded for another recent first-rounder at the position in CJ Henderson. With plenty of young talent in the secondary, the Panthers may value the $3.5 million in cap space they could create by cutting Bouye more than the veteran cornerback himself, especially because he'll be 31 next season and missed seven games in 2021, ending the season on IR due to a foot injury.
