2024 Fantasy Outlook
Stafford bounced back somewhat from an injury-riddled 2022 campaign but still was only QB15 in fantasy last season. That might be his ceiling at this point, though in his last six games he averaged 20.6 fantasy points. Prorated to a full season, that would place him third among QBs. In that stretch he threw 15/3 TD/INT with 8.0 YPA, compared to 9/8 TD/INT with 7.3 YPA in his first nine games. The biggest difference was his red-zone TD rate, which jumped from an absurdly low 13.9 percent to an above-average 28.6. That likely will normalize around league average (23.5 percent) this year, but if his 71.5 percent on-target rate (23rd) doesn't improve or if he doesn't increase his 7.7 average target depth (15th), he's unlikely to be much more than a middling fantasy QB. And that's with good health, which can't be assumed for the 36-year-old, who adds nothing on the ground (65 rushing yards last year in 15 games). Stafford has a solid pair of wide receivers in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, and No. 3 wideout Demarcus Robinson came on late last season. Running back Kyren Williams gives the Rams a balanced offense, and Sean McVay's still calling plays, so Stafford at least still has plenty of fantasy value in two-QB leagues. Read Past Outlooks

Stands out in wild-card win
Stafford completed 19 of 27 passes for 209 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while adding two carries for minus-1 yard in the Rams' 27-9 wild-card win over the Vikings on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Stafford got off to a blazing start during the convincing win, recording completions of 27 and 23 yards to Puka Nacua and Tyler Higbee, respectively, on his first pair of throws. The veteran signal-caller connected on all six pass attempts during the crisp opening possession, which he capped off with a five-yard scoring toss to Kyren Williams. Stafford subsequently connected with Davis Allen for a 13-yard scoring strike just before halftime as well, and although the offense slowed down considerably in the second half, the quarterback already laid the groundwork for an impressive victory. Stafford and the Rams now will ready themselves for the challenge presented by a road divisional-round clash versus the Eagles on Sunday afternoon.

The Rams turned in the worst Super Bowl title defense in NFL history last year (5-12), and Stafford was a big reason why. Before missing a game with a concussion and then the last seven games with a spinal cord contusion, Stafford struggled to a 10/8 TD/INT in nine games. His YPA dropped by more than a yard from the previous year to 6.9 (21st) while his average target depth dropped by nearly two yards to 6.7, 29th in the NFL. Stafford’s downfield passing took a big hit as his on-target percentage sank to 37.5 (30th) on attempts of 20-plus yards. Other than Cooper Kupp, who only played nine games, Stafford didn’t have a quality wideout to target -- Allen Robinson was a free-agent bust, Van Jefferson missed the first six games with a knee injury and Ben Skowronek and Tutu Atwell failed to develop. Robinson is gone, but the Rams did not acquire additional receiving weapons through free agency or the draft other than fifth-round pick Puka Nacua. So, it will be Kupp, Jefferson, Skowronek and Atwell again, along with TE Tyler Higbee. Stafford doesn’t run and the offensive line is poor (though second-round pick Steve Avila could help at LG). It’s not a good fantasy recipe.

Expected to sit out Week 18
Stafford isn't expected to play Sunday against the Seahawks after head coach Sean McVay confirmed Monday that he plans on resting most of the Rams' key starters for the regular-season finale, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports. "Typically, we've erred on the side of leaning a little bit more towards [resting players] and I would imagine as we continue to finalize our plans, that's probably the direction we'll go," McVay said, when pressed about the Rams' plans for Week 18.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Will sit out finale
Rams head coach Sean McVay said Wednesday that Stafford won't play Sunday against the Seahawks for rest purposes, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Rams have already clinched the NFC West title and a home game in the wild-card round of the playoffs, and although Los Angeles can still improve its playoff positioning by securing the No. 3 seed, McVay decided that resting Stafford and other key players was the most prudent path to take in the regular-season finale. Jimmy Garoppolo will start at quarterback in place of Stafford this weekend in what will be his Rams debut.
