The Vikings released Taylor on Tuesday, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor joined the Vikings in April and briefly appeared to have earned the team's No. 3 wideout gig, but was ultimately unable to stick. With Taylor gone, Chad Beebe is the favorite for the third receiver role behind Adam Thielen (general soreness) and Stefon Diggs.

The former Bronco seemed positioned to compete for Minnesota's No. 3 wideout role upon signing with the team in April, but has thus far been outshined by Laquon Treadwell in preseason play. It's also notable that, despite averaging 9.4 yards per punt return during his last active season of 2017, Taylor is not in the mix for return specialist duties.
Former head coach Gary Kubiak had some familial ties with Taylor prior to the Broncos scooping him up as an undrafted free agent following the 2015 draft. Kubiak's son and Broncos scout, Klein Kubiak, was Taylor's teammate at Rice. Taylor spent 2015 on the practice squad, serving as Peyton Manning's personal target while the future-Hall-of-Famer recovered from a foot injury. Taylor cracked the 53-man roster in 2016 following a four-catch, 109-yard effort in Week 4 of the preseason in which he scored two touchdowns. Taylor scored toe-tapping touchdowns in back-to-back games against the Saints and Chiefs, but was quiet for most of the season until a three-catch effort in Week 17. Denver has two Pro-Bowl receivers in Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders and the depth chart got more crowded with the selection of Carlos Henderson and Isaiah McKenzie in the draft. Taylor is no lock to make the team, but his 4.5 speed and 6-5 frame likely makes him worth keeping around as a red-zone threat.
Taylor spent last year on the practice squad, but received reps as Peyton Manning's personal receiver during his rehab. This offseason, Taylor has impressed with highlight-reel catches. He was remarkably consistent in his final three seasons at Rice, hauling in between 54 and 57 passes each season for 826 to 848 yards. He scored a total of 18 touchdowns and averaged an impressive 15.2 yards per catch. He could be an intriguing deep and red-zone target should he make the squad. He'll be competing with veteran Jordan Norwood and rookie returners Mose Frazier and Bralon Addison for the fifth and/or sixth receiver spots.
