Weekly Matchups: Strong Plays, Weak Plays Week 15

This article is part of our Weekly Matchups series.

STRONG PLAYS

Andy Dalton vs. PHI

Dalton has been cold down the stretch as he has averaged less than 210 passing yards in his last two games and thrown just two touchdowns compared to three interceptions. This week, Dalton should have a big bounce-back game against the Eagles. The Eagles have allowed the third most fantasy points to the quarterback position and in the last seven weeks have allowed 18 touchdown passes without an interception. Look for Dalton to have one of his better games of the season and be a top-10 quarterback this week.

Reggie Bush vs. JAX

Bush is in the midst of his best three-game stretch since the beginning of the season as he is averaging 72 yards a game on the ground despite having less than favorable matchups in each game. This week, Bush has the type of matchup that should make him fantasy relevant in this very important week against the Jaguars. The Jaguars have surrendered the fourth most fantasy rushing points and have given up 170.5 yards per game in the last two weeks. Most weeks Bush has disappointed, but this may be a week that he could serve you well as an RB2 or flex option.

Shonn Greene vs. TEN

Greene has been fairly productive the last three weeks rushing for at least 70 yards and has consecutive weeks of double-digit fantasy points in standard scoring leagues. This week, Greene has another solid matchup against the Titans. The Titans have allowed the fifth

This week, Bush has the type of matchup that should make him fantasy relevant in this very important week against the Jaguars. Shonn Greene vs. TEN

Greene has been fairly productive the last three weeks rushing for at least 70 yards and has consecutive weeks of double-digit fantasy points in standard scoring leagues. This week, Greene has another solid matchup against the Titans. The Titans have allowed the fifth most fantasy points to running backs and have given up touchdowns in three straight weeks. Greene should be able to be productive enough to be a worthy flex option this week.

Josh Gordon vs. WAS

Gordon has been hot the last three weeks, catching 18 passes for 262 yards and a touchdown as he and Brandon Weeden appear to be developing a solid chemistry. This week is Gordon's best matchup against a Redskins secondary that hasn't stopped much all season. The Redskins rank 31st in yards allowed to the wide receiver position, and have given up the second most yards to the position. Look for Gordon to continue his hot streak and be a viable option for your lineup this week.

Detroit Def vs. ARI

The Lions have given up a ton of points in their last four games but have 10 sacks and six turnovers, facing the playoff-bound Texans and likely playoff teams, the Colts and Packers, twice. This week, the Lions get a break and should be fantasy relevant against the abysmal Cardinals offense. The Cardinals haven't broken 20 points in the last nine weeks and have four games in which they have scored less than 10. Furthermore, they have allowed the most sacks per game (3.8) and are 25th in fumbles lost and 29th in interceptions thrown. Look for the Lions defense to be one of the better plays this week in this outstanding matchup.

WEAK PLAYS

Matthew Stafford vs. ARI

Despite the fact that Stafford has thrown just 17 touchdowns this season, he has been a pretty good option as he is second in the league in yards and has surpassed 260 yards passing in every game but one this season. However, much of this is due to the fact the Lions defense has been bad this season, and Stafford's 579 attempts are by far the most in the NFL. This week, the combination of good pass defense and a poor Cardinals offense may limit Stafford's need to throw and, thus, hurt his fantasy value. The Cardinals are third in the league in fantasy pass defense and have 10 interceptions to just four touchdowns in their last four games. Furthermore, with the Cardinals offense being so poor, Stafford may not throw the number of times needed for a huge fantasy output.

Nick Foles vs. CIN

Foles has become a hot pickup as in his last two games he has average of 316 passing yards with three touchdows, but this week he will get the toughest test of his young career against the Bengals. The Bengals rank seventh in fewest fantasy points allowed to the quarterback and have given up one or fewer touchdown passes in six of their last seven games. After Bryce Brown's disaster last week, don't be surprised if you see the Eagles feed him early to get him going, leaving Foles with more pedestrian numbers.

Stevan Ridley vs. SF

Ridley has scored a rushing touchdown in six straight weeks and has been one of the better late-round gems in fantasy this season, and a big reason why the Patriots offense has been so successful this season despite all their injuries. This week, Ridley faces a tough assignment in the 49ers. The 49ers are the top fantasy rushing defense in the NFL and have allowed just two rushing touchdowns all season. Furthermore, they have held five of their last six teams to less than 100 yards. Ridley may be too good to bench, but don't be surprised if this his lowest fantasy point total since midseason.

Kenny Britt vs. NYJ

Britt had a monster game last week against the Colts, and demonstrated why when he is healthy he has the potential to be a top fantasy wide receiver. This week could be a struggle in Britt's up-and-down season as he has a very tough matchup against the Jets. The Jets rank third in fewest points allowed to fantasy wide receivers and have been very tough the last two weeks as they make a late-season playoff push. Look for Britt to struggle this week as the Titans look to keep the ball more on the ground against a very suspect Jets run defense.

Jason Witten vs. PIT

Witten has had a monster season leading all NFL tight ends in both catches and yardage. The only downside to Witten's season is that he has just one touchdown catch. This week, Witten faces a very tough test in the Steelers. The Steelers are the top-ranked fantasy defense against tight ends and have allowed just one touchdown in their last nine games. Furthermore, they have not allowed more than 69 yards to the position all season and have allowed more than 43 yards to the position just once in their last eight games. Unless you have depth at the position, Witten is too good to bench, but this projects to be just an average day for Witten.
