Declares for draft
Ragas announced Thursday that he will forgo his remaining eligibility at Louisiana to enter the 2021 NFL Draft, Tim Buckley of the Lafayette Daily Advertiser reports.
ANALYSIS
Ragas had the option of sticking around in Lafayette for a sixth season in 2021, but given that he's set to turn 25 years old in November, he understandably wanted to get his professional career started. Though he played second fiddle in the Ragin' Cajuns backfield to Elijah Mitchell this past season, Calais was still plenty productive, carrying 131 times for 760 yards and 10 touchdowns while catching nine of 13 targets for 106 yards and two scores. Assuming Mitchell also forgoes his remaining eligibility to enter the draft, Chris Smith would be the next man up to lead the Louisiana backfield in 2021.
