Waiver Wire Watch: Players to Pick Up Week 10
Crazy to think we're already in Week 10 of the college football season and the College Football Playoff is right around the corner. Before we get there though, the college fantasy playoffs need to take place. Here are some guys that could help you win the championship. As a friendly reminder, make sure to keep up with injury news as this article is posted early in the week. As always, I'll get to any questions or comments you have in the comments section below.
AAC
Darrell Henderson, RB, Memphis: It's time to take Henderson seriously as he has the potential to break off a touchdown on any play as he showed with a 82-yard score versus Tulane on Friday Night. He does the most with limited touches as he's averaging 8.1 yards per carry on 81 attempts and 10.2 yards per catch on 13 catches. While QB Riley Ferguson and WR Anthony Miller are owned in just about every fantasy league, Henderson is owned in just 17 percent of leagues. The odds are good that he'll break off a touchdown versus Tulsa this week.
Mulbah Car & D'Eriq King, RB & WR, Houston: Both Car and King were catalysts to the Cougars upsetting the nationally ranked South Florida Bulls on Saturday. Car filled in for an injured Dillon Birden and led the way with 137 rushing yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. I'm assuming he'll receive more carries

I'm assuming he'll receive more carries than Duke Catalon going forward. King made his debut at QB and was fantastic, racking up three total touchdowns versus the Bulls. He should go crazy against a terrible East Carolina pass defense this week.
*Navy (at Temple), South Florida (at UConn) and UCF (at SMU) are soft matchups so if any of their starters are available, they should be considered for this week.
ACC
Greg Dortch, WR, Wake Forest: Dortch was amazing with 10 catches for 167 yards and four touchdowns versus Louisville on Saturday. I'm not saying he'll do anything close to that performance versus Notre Dame, but it wasn't just a fluke performance either. The freshman is owned in just 34 percent of leagues and has at least four catches in every game this season. QB John Wolford is also worth owning in most leagues despite the tough matchup with the Fighting Irish.
Ervin Philips, WR, Syracuse: The Orange were off this past week and it's a small slate in the ACC, so Philips can be snatched up with just 41 percent ownership. Florida State is reeling after a 35-3 loss to Boston College, so it's not like they're as scary a defensive matchup as they once were. I love Philips to catch a bunch of short passes as he typically does with over seven catches per game.
*Georgia Tech vs. Virginia is a soft matchup so if any of their starters are available, they should be considered for this week.
BIG 12
Alex Barnes, RB, Kansas State: Barnes burned a lot of fantasy owners earlier this year and is owned in only 18 percent of leagues. It's time to pick him up again as he's rushed for 236 yards and three touchdowns in the Wildcats' last two games. Kansas State is dealing with injuries to both Jesse Ertz and Alex Delton, so it may be a smart move to lean on Barnes. Kansas State will play a Texas Tech team that doesn't really play defense.
CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma: Lamb's breakout game finally occurred with nine catches for 147 yards and two touchdowns versus Texas Tech. It's pretty apparent that QB Baker Mayfield likes the talented freshman receiver, so snatch him up and receive elite upside for the rest of the year. Lamb's available in pretty much all leagues and could help your team make that championship push.
*Baylor at Kansas is a soft matchup so if any of their starters are available, they should be considered for this week.
BIG TEN
Karan Higdon, RB, Michigan: The Wolverines may have a mess at quarterback, but they have found something in Higdon, who has six touchdowns in his past three games. Take away a mediocre performance against Penn State and focus on him running for a combined 358 yards versus Indiana and Rutgers. Available in most leagues, I would be willing to bet he can have good performances against Minnesota and Maryland the next two weeks.
David Blough, QB, Purdue: While the Boilermakers couldn't beat Nebraska, Blough did have a decent day with two touchdowns. It's heavily dependent on the weather in the Midwest this week, but he should be able to do whatever he wants versus a young Illinois defense. Blough has been really good at times with nine touchdowns compared to just four interceptions.
*Wisconsin (at Indiana), Ohio State (at Iowa), Northwestern vs. Nebraska and Maryland at Rutgers are soft matchups so if any of their starters are available, they should be considered for this week.
CONFERENCE USA
Spencer Brown, RB, UAB: It's a shame that 60 percent of fantasy leagues weren't able to take advantage of Brown's 33 carries for 209 yards and a touchdown versus Southern Miss. I've touted Blazers such as Brown and QB A.J. Erdely in the past and they've surged to a surprising 5-3 record. They have an excellent matchup with Rice and Brown is as volume-heavy as they come with at least 26 carries in three of his last four games.
Thomas Owens, WR, FIU: Opposing teams just can't stop Owens, who has at least six catches and over 100 yards in four straight games. He's owned in just 36 percent of leagues and FIU will need to throw the ball versus all of their remaining opponents because its defense isn't that good. Due to this, QB Alex McGough should also be owned in more leagues.
*Marshall vs. Florida Atlantic, North Texas at Louisiana Tech, Charlotte vs. Old Dominion and UTEP vs. Middle Tennessee are soft matchups so if any of their starters are available, they should be considered for this week.
MAC
Marcus Childers, QB, Northern Illinois: Since Childers took over the starting job, he's been borderline unstoppable while racking up nine passing touchdowns and two rushing scores in four straight wins for the Huskies. He's owned in only 4 percent of leagues, meaning that most of the fantasy world has not benefited from his solid fantasy production. While he does play a good Toledo team, he should be able to score some points this week.
Brogan Roback, QB, Eastern Michigan: With the Eagles chasing most teams, Roback has thrown at least 40 passes in four different games this season. He's not a huge playmaker, but his volume alone could lead to a nice fantasy performance. He's available in nearly every league and will play a mediocre Ball State defense this week.
*As a friendly reminder, Miami (OH) at Ohio and Bowling Green at Kent State will be Tuesday Night Games.
MOUNTAIN WEST
Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming: Allen had his best game of the season versus New Mexico with four touchdowns through the air and one on the ground. His supporting cast isn't the greatest, but the Cowboys' defense is legit, which helps the quarterback have adequate scoring opportunities. He's owned in only half of leagues and plays some soft defenses to end the year.
Jake Roh, TE, Boise State: I've recommended Roh in the past because it's not always easy to find tight ends who sees consistent scoring opportunities. He posted his second multi-touchdown game versus Utah State and has at least three catches in five straight games. An upcoming matchup against a bad Nevada defense should be a good one for the senior.
*Utah State vs. New Mexico, Hawaii vs. UNLV and San Diego State vs. San Jose State are soft matchups so if any of their starters are available, they should be considered for this week.
PAC-12
Kanawai Noa, WR, Cal: Consistency is hard to find at the wide receiver position, but Noa has it with at least six catches in six straight games. Over that span, he's averaging 100 receiving yards per game and has four touchdowns as well. He's stepped into a larger role in the California offense following season-ending injuries to Demetris Robertson and Melquise Stovall. The best part is that he's owned in only four percent of leagues and gets to play a soft Oregon State defense this week.
Tyler Huntley, QB, Utah: Owned in just 29 percent of leagues, Huntley should run wild versus a UCLA team who struggles to stop rushing attacks each and every week. He should have no problem building on his eight passing touchdowns and three rushing scores this season when they take on the Bruins on Friday Night.
*Washington (vs. Oregon), USC (vs. Arizona) and Colorado vs. Arizona State are soft matchups so if any of their starters are available, they should be considered for this week.
SEC
Jordan Ta'amu, QB, Ole Miss: With Shea Patterson out for the season with a knee injury, Ta'amu made an excellent first impression with a total of 444 yards and two touchdowns in his starting debut versus Arkansas. With Kentucky, Louisiana-Lafayette, Texas A&M, and Mississippi State left on the schedule, Ta'amu could realistically be played each week for the rest of the season. RB Jordan Wilkins should also be picked up with only six percent ownership in fantasy leagues.
Sony Michel, RB, Georgia: The Bulldogs are just too good for Michel to be owned in only 32 percent of fantasy leagues. Michel was electric with 137 yards and two touchdowns on six carries in a 42-7 blowout of the Florida Gators. Yes, the six carries are a bit scary, but I'm pretty sure Georgia will make sure that both Nick Chubb and Michel are productive before not giving them any more carries. Michel has scored a touchdown in six of seven games this season.
*Mississippi State (vs. Massachusetts), Vanderbilt (vs. Western Kentucky), Arkansas (vs. Coastal Carolina) and Tennessee (vs. Southern Miss) are soft matchups so if any of their starters are available, they should be considered for this week.
SUN BELT
Caleb Evans, QB, UL-Monroe: Evans keeps chugging along as he posted 415 passing yards, three touchdowns and 47 rushing yards in a losing effort this past Saturday. He's averaging around 30 fantasy points per game in his last two games and this week's matchup with Appalachian State is likely your last chance to use him for your fantasy lineup. After playing the Mountaineers, the Warhawks have tough matchups with Auburn and Arkansas State.
Marcus Williams or Jalin Moore, RB, App State: Marcus Williams rushed for 125 yards on 23 carries in an overtime loss to Massachusetts. He received the start due to Terrance Upshaw being out for the season with a torn triceps and Moore dealing with a nagging foot injury. With upcoming matchups against Louisiana-Monroe, Georgia Southern, Georgia State and Louisiana-Lafayette, either Williams or Moore depending on health will be great starts for the rest of the year.
*Georgia State (at Georgia Southern), New Mexico State (at Texas State) and Louisiana-Lafayette vs. South Alabama are soft matchups so if any of their starters are available, they should be considered for this week.
DEFENSES to Stream for Week 10
Arkansas (vs. Coastal Carolina) – I'm banking on the level of competition easing up tremendously for the Razorbacks. They should be able to handle Coastal Carolina despite giving up 45.6 points per game to SEC opponents.
Tennessee (vs. Southern Miss) – Similar to the pick above, this SEC defense should be able to dominate versus a C-USA foe. Moreover, they're available in pretty much all leagues.
UAB (vs. Rice) – Rice committed four turnovers against Louisiana Tech and the Blazers are playing very well right now.
San Diego State (at San Jose State) – Like Rice above, San Jose State has one of the worst offenses in the country and it's always smart to bet against the inefficient offenses.
