Sheds cast on injured leg
November 14, 2018
Moore (leg) had the cast on his injured right leg removed in early November, Ethan Joyce of the Winston-Salem Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
The running back suffered a dislocated and fractured right ankle back in October, but it seems like he's making steady progress in his recovery. He was initially given an 8-to-12 week return timetable, likely knocking him out for the entire regular season. However, it seems like there's a chance for him to return for the Senior Bowl in January, though that doesn't really help anything from a fantasy perspective. Darrynton Evans figures to continue handling lead running back duties for the remainder of the season.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2018
2017
Moore starts for one of the most run-heavy offenses in the nation and the Mountaineers may need to lean on him even more in 2018 with four-year quarterback Taylor Lamb gone. He had an injury that dialed his workload back from 237 carries to 183 carries, but if Moore stays healthy, he'll push for his 2016 carry total. Moore's track record of sustained success, averaging 5.8 YPC in 420 carries over the last two years. There may not be a ton of room for improvement, but Moore is a safe and reliable option at running back with a guaranteed workload.
Moore took on the lead back role for the Mountaineers last year with Marcus Cox battling injuries and thrived with the increased workload. He ran for 1,402 yards (5.92 YPC) and 10 touchdowns while appearing in all 13 games en route to earning Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year honors. Moore is a borderline Power 5 talent, so he should dominate conference play again. With Cox graduated, Moore will have an even bigger market share of the carries in what has become one of the nation's more run-heavy pro-style systems in recent years.
