DraftKings CFL: Week 13 Cheat Sheet

DraftKings CFL: Week 13 Cheat Sheet

This article is part of our DraftKings CFL DFS Picks series.

The CFL heads further into its stretch run with a four-game Week 13 slate that features the defending champion Blue Bombers on bye and all three of the contending teams in a very tight top end of the East Division in action. The defensively vulnerable Redblacks are also available to target with some skill players, and there's a notable return from injury in BC.

DraftKings CFL Plays- Week 13

Quarterback

Jeremiah Masoli, HAM at EDM ($11,100): Masoli put together a second straight elite performance in Week 12, completing a whopping 89.3 percent of his passes against the Ottawa on his way to 27.1 DK points. It was the second straight game in which Masoli cleared the 27-point threshold, and given his recent form and ability to complement his production through the air with some rushing yards, he makes for a worthwhile Week 13 option despite the tough matchup on paper against a stingy Edmonton secondary..

Bo Levi Mitchell, CGY at OTT ($9,500): Mitchell is having a significant problem with ball security this season, as he's already thrown 13 interceptions, one short of his career high. Nevertheless, Mitchell's solid yardage totals have helped keep him reasonably productive from a fantasy perspective, as he's posted over 14 DK points in four consecutive contests. The Redblacks could help facilitate a mistake-free, fruitful effort, however, as Ottawa is allowing the third-most passing yards per game (273.0), along with a CFL-high 73.5 percent completion rate and 19 touchdown passes.

Matthew Shiltz, MTL vs. SSK ($8,500): Shiltz has only see a salary hike of $400 over Week 12, when he posted a solid 17.6 DK points against the Argonauts. Shiltz had also compiled 22.4 the game prior against Ottawa, so the upside is certainly there at his still very reasonable salary. The Roughriders don't present as a prohibitive matchup, as they've allowed 270.7 passing yards per game, the second-highest completion percentage (68.0) and the most completions over 30 yards (19).

ALSO CONSIDER: Mike Reilly, BC at TOR ($9,700)

Running Back

Ka'Deem Carey, CGY at OTT ($9,200): Mitchell isn't the only Stampeders skill player in a good position in Week 13, as the Redblacks have allowed a CFL-high 116.0 rushing yards per game at 5.0 yards per carry. Ottawa is also tied for the second-most rushing touchdowns allowed (seven), while Carey checks in with double-digit carries in four straight and double-digit DK points in each of his last three games as well. The former Chicago Bear is averaging an impressive 5.4 yards per carry on the road, and given the possibility Calgary takes a big second-half lead in this game, Carey could be in for a solid workload overall.

D.J. Foster, TOR at BC ($6,800): Finding a good combination of opportunity, matchup and value at running back is very challenging in Week 13, so much so I only feel comfortable making two main recommendations at the position. Foster is my value proposition, as he'll face a Lions squad allowing 102.4 rushing yards per contest and a CFL-high 289.2 passing yards per contest and the third-most completions. Even the pass defense metrics are relevant when considering Foster, as he's been a factor through the air with a 27-269-2 line in eight games. Foster hasn't gotten much opportunity on the ground of late, but he's worth a shot at his salary with the dearth of options at the position.

ALSO CONSIDER: William Stanback, MTL vs. SSK ($10,300)

Wide Receiver/Slotback

Kyran Moore, SSK at MTL ($9,100): Moore offers a nice discount over the trio of five-figure receivers above him, and he checks in averaging a solid 14.1 DK points per game on the campaign. He's posted three straight double-digit DK-point tallies, including 18.6 against the Stampeders in Week 12. Moore has at least six catches in four consecutive games as well, and the opposing Alouettes are allowing the fourth-highest average yards per attempt (8.2) and fourth-most completions of 30 or more yards (15) as well.

Ricky Collins, TOR vs. BC ($8,300): Collins has scored 14.0 to 15.5 DK points in four of his last five games, profiting from a steady role that's seen him log at least seven targets in six of nine contests. The speedy veteran has also been much more productive on the road, putting up 14.7 DK points in five away contests. The Lions make for good targets, as they've yielded a CFL-high amount of passing yards per game as detailed in Foster's entry, and they've also yielded a robust 14 completions of 30 or more yards.

Lucky Whitehead, BC at TOR ($8,200): Whitehead will make his return from the injured list after recovering from a broken hand, and he'll look to pick up where he left off. The speedster had scored 24.1 to 31.6 DK points in his last three games before being sidelined, with the most recent pair of contests 100-yard efforts. Whitehead is averaging an impressive 22.3 DK points per road contest overall, and the Argonauts are allowing the second-most passing yards per game (276.7), the second-highest completion percentage (68.2) and the second-most completions of 30 yards or more.

Kamar Jorden, CGY at OTT ($7,500): Jorden makes for an intriguing tournament play in a favorable matchup versus the Redblacks' questionable secondary, whose struggles defending the pass were detailed in Mitchell's entry. Jorden produced a modest 9.3 DK points in his return from injury in Week 12, but he's flashed a ceiling north of 35 DK points this season. The talented veteran produced three straight DK-point tallies in Weeks 4-6 before getting hurt in Week 7, and he could be set up for more success against an Ottawa defense that's tied with the Roughriders for most completions of 30 yards or more allowed (19).

ALSO CONSIDER: Richard Sindani, CGY at OTT ($5,600)

Team Defense

Hamilton Tiger-Cats ($5,800) at Edmonton Elks: The Tiger-Cats are the most expensive defense on the slate, and a Stampeders unit that's $500 less and facing the Redblacks is another option to consider. However, the Edmonton offense has been so inept of late that Hamilton certainly comes into play. The Ti-Cats are averaging a solid 10.5 DK points per game anyhow, and they've flashed a ceiling north of 20 DK points this season. They also come in with double-digit DK-point tallies in three of their last five contests and have recorded multiple sacks in four straight. Meanwhile, the Elks have allowed the fourth-most sacks (26), have a -17 turnover ratio and have allowed a whopping 70 points off turnovers. The Ti-Cats counter with the second-most turnovers forced (27) included a co-CFL-high 13 interceptions.
