DraftKings CFL: Week 12 Cheat Sheet

DraftKings CFL: Week 12 Cheat Sheet

This article is part of our DraftKings CFL DFS Picks series.

We're back to a full four-game slate for Week 12 as the CFL's stretch run begins to heat up. There are some favorable matchups for various skill players as well and a couple of particularly appealing value plays, one due to the very likely absence of a star player.

DraftKings CFL Plays- Week 12

Quarterback

Jeremiah Masoli, HAM vs. OTT ($10,100): Masoli appears close to being back to hitting on all cylinders after missing several games with a rib injury, and he posted 27.7 DK points against the Argonauts in Week 10. The veteran quarterback is averaging 20.2 DK points per contest at home as well, and he has the advantage of drawing the best defensive matchup in the league in Week 12. The Redblacks are allowing the most points (28.5), most first downs (206), most passing touchdowns (17) and highest completion percentage (72.4), giving Masoli no shortage of paths to fantasy success.

McLeod Bethel-Thompson, TOR at MTL ($8,800): Bethel-Thompson should remain the starter in Week 12 after posting 16.4 and 26.7 DK points against these same Als and the Ti-Cats, respectively. MBT always brings the possibility of some rushing yards as well, and Montreal comes in allowing the third-highest average yards per attempt (8.4) in the CFL.

Matthew Shiltz, MTL vs. TOR ($8,100): Shiltz was a hit in his first start in Week 11, posting 22.4 DK points against the Redblacks on the strength of a 281-yard effort that also included two total touchdowns. Shiltz is capable of offering some supplemental production with his legs as well, and the Argos have allowed the second-most passing yards per game (283.9) and are tied for the second-highest completion percentage (68.2) surrendered as well, so Shiltz is set up well for success at his salary.

ALSO CONSIDER: Zach Collaros, WPG vs. BC ($9,400)

Running Back

William Powell, SSK at CGY ($9,300): Powell notched 21.6 and 12.7 DK points in two prior contests against the Stamps in Weeks 9 and 10, recording five receptions apiece in each of those games to help boost his overall production. The veteran has double-digit rush attempts and multiple catches in all but one game this season, and although Calgary is allowing a respectable 91.0 rushing yards per game at 4.9 yards per carry, the viable RB player pool is small this week and Powell does have a locked-in role that gives him a certain amount of safety.

John White, TOR at MTL ($7,800): The one concern with White is his overall workload, as he hasn't logged double-digit rush attempts in three of his past four games. However, White has the ability to break out – he tallied 22.9 DK points back in Week 2 against the Blue Bombers – and the Argos could coax another strong performance from him. Montreal comes in having allowed a CFL-high 5.3 yards per rush and the second-most rushing TDs (seven), along with 96.6 rushing yards per game overall.

Brady Oliveira, WPG vs. BC ($4,800): Andrew Harris missed all three practices this week after exiting the Week 11 win over the Elks with a knee injury, certainly heightening the chances he'll miss this Week 12 matchup. Oliviera took over for Harris with 1:04 remaining in the first half and racked up 105 rushing yards on 16 carries while also recording three receptions, leading to 17.4 DK points. Oliviera also had a 126-yard rushing day on 22 carries versus the Tiger-Cats back in Week 1 when Harris was out with a calf injury and BC is surrendering 95.8 rushing yards per contest, setting Oliviera up as one of the best potential value plays at any position this week.

ALSO CONSIDER: Maleek Irons, HAM vs. OTT ($3,000)

Wide Receiver/Slotback

Bralon Addison, HAM vs. OTT ($9,500): I've suggested Addison in this column for each of his first two games, as the speedster has a secure role that always seems to include multiple carries as well. Addison posted 12.9 DK points in Week 10 against the Argos after generating 16 versus the Als in his Week 9 season debut, and his matchup against the Redblacks is the most tantalizing yet. In addition to Ottawa's various weaknesses against the pass already enumerated in Masoli's entry, it's also worth noting the Redblacks have facilitated the highest average yards per attempt (9.0) and are tied for most completions of 30 or more yards given up as well (18).

Jake Wieneke, MTL vs. TOR ($8,500): Wieneke is averaging an impressive 19.4 DK points per contest this season and has scored 14.6 to 27.4 DK points in his last four games. He also has a tally north of 30 this season, and he posted 26.7 against this same Toronto squad when he faced them Week 8. The Argos have allowed plenty through the air as already outlined in Shiltz's entry, and in addition to those previously cited numbers, it's worth noting Toronto has given up the second-most passing touchdowns (14) and third most completions of 30 yards or more (15).

Rasheed Bailey, WPG vs. BC ($6,400): Bailey has six or seven targets in three of the past four games, and he's coming off a particularly impressive 6-93-1 versus the Elks in Week 11 that netted a season-best 22.5 DK points. Bailey has four double-digit DK-point tallies in a row, and the Lions come in allowing a CFL-high 291.1 passing yards per contest, the second-most completions (219) and fourth-highest average yards per attempt (8.0).

Nick Holley, CGY vs. SSK ($3,500): Holley sports a rock-bottom salary and has posted 8.1 and 10.0 DK points in his last two games. The sure-handed CFL rookie has a 9-101 line over that span, and if he continues to even see similar volume to what he's logged thus far, he could be a bargain at his salary. The Roughriders have been about middle of the pack against the pass with 266.2 passing yards per game allowed, and they've also surrendered the second-highest completion percentage (68.2), second-highest average yards per attempt (8.7) and second-most completions of 30 yards or greater (16).

ALSO CONSIDER: Kenny Lawler, WPG vs. BC ($7,300)

Team Defense

Montreal Alouettes ($5,400) vs. Toronto Argonauts: The Als have played solid defense most of the season, posting 9.9 DK points per contest. Montreal has scored between 9.0 and 23.0 DK points in the last three games and leads the CFL with 35 sacks, is tied for the fewest first downs allowed (165) and  has forced the second-most two-and-outs (56). Meanwhile, Toronto has a -6 turnover ratio, boosting Montreal's prospects in the home matchup.
