2024 Tournament PreviewKentucky's constant roster turnover hasn't helped the team's postseason prospects in recent years, as Big Blue hasn't tasted the Sweet Sixteen since 2020. Coach John Calipari hopes to write a new narrative this season behind a top-5 offense (per KenPom) that sports the best 3-point shooting in the country (41.2 percent). Three Wildcats shoot at least 44 percent from downtown, including freshman guard Reed Sheppard (12.8 ppg), who leads the nation at 52.5 percent on 141 attempts. Leading scorer Antonio Reeves (20.0 ppg) is one of five players averaging double figures. And that doesn't even include five-star freshmen Justin Edwards and 7-1 Aaron Bradshaw, who have settled into secondary roles in the offense. Depth might be the biggest strength. Five players are capable of starting either frontcourt spot, including 6-9 senior Tre Mitchell (10.7 ppg, 7.0 rpg) who is healthy again after missing six games in February. Kentucky is a team no one wants to face.
