Plans to stay in draft
James will participate in the draft combine this week and is expected to keep his name in the 2024 NBA Draft and give up his remaining collegiate eligibility, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Earlier in the offseason, James entered the transfer portal while simultaneously declaring for the draft, but the 6-foot-4 guard looks as though he's committed to making the jump to the professional ranks rather than moving on to another program ahead of the 2024-25 season. After his true freshman season at USC got off to a delayed start due to a cardiac emergency he suffered during a workout last July, James played in each of the Trojans' final 25 games, making six starts while averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.6 three-pointers in 19.2 minutes per contest.
