DFS College Basketball: Sunday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Sunday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

Sunday brings a four game slate on DraftKings, hosting their $10 Big Jam Contest with $6K up for grabs including $2K to first. FanDuel has its own four game slate, with the same four games as the main slate on DraftKings. The slate features three teams in the AP top-25, including No. 3 Purdue at home against Maryland. Let's get on to the action.

Top Players

Keegan Murray, G/F, Iowa ($9,700 DK, $8,500 FD)

Despite the hefty price, it is nearly impossible to ignore Murray. He leads the team by far in multiple categories, including points (22.7) and rebounds (8.5). Also, Murray has a high usage rate of 28.6 percent over the last 10 games. The sophomore averages 42.5 DK points and has only dropped below 30 twice this season. He is coming off performances of 44.3 and 55.3 DK points. In addition, Nebraska plays at the second fastest pace on the slate and Iowa has the highest projected point total with 87.75. On FanDuel he is a must play at a much better value.

Alonzo Verge, G/F, Nebraska ($7,400 DK, $6,700 FD)

This game has the highest implied total of 158, so it's a good idea to target players on multiple sides. Verge's salary is the lowest it's been since December despite coming off a 36.5 DK-point performance where he filled the score sheet with 22 points, four assists, two rebounds, three steals and a block in 29 minutes. He has the highest usage rate for the Cornhuskers at 29.9 percent and is the second highest scorer on the team. Just like Murray, Verge is an even better play on FanDuel.

Middle Tier

Posh Alexander, G, St. John's ($7,300 DK, $7,700 FD)

Alexander's status has to be monitored as he's questionable for Sunday's game against Connecticut. He missed the last game on Tuesday with a sprained ankle and remains questionable. However, his salary dropped $1,500 due to his injury, and if he is cleared to play he is a great value. With three games in February, he posted 25.5, 34.8 and a whopping 56.8 DK points. In addition, St. John's plays at the fastest pace on the slate. If he is ruled out, it might be good to pivot to Dylan Addae-Wusu ($6,200) who would take his spot in the starting five.

Tyrese Martin, G/F, Connecticut ($6,200 DK, $6,500 FD)

It's may be good to target players that are favored to beat the team that plays with the fastest pace. Martin is a solid value, but comes with some risk. He's scored as low as 12.3 DK points and as high as 42.3 DK points over his last four games. The good news is he's playing consistent minutes in the high 30's as of late and it's led to him scoring in double digits over his last three games, including a double-double against Marquette on Monday.

Value Plays

Adama Sanogo, F, Connecticut ($5,300 DK, $7,900 FD)

Sticking with Connecticut, Sanogo is the best value play on the slate. Somehow DraftKings criminally underpriced him as he was as high as $8,900 nine days ago. However this happened, he easily became the best value, averaging 31.9 DK points this season. He put up 48.8 DK points against Marquette on Monday. Over the last 10 games, Sanogo is averaging a double-double and has the highest usage rate on the team with 28 percent. If he can post a similar score Sunday, it would be an insane 9x value in return. Although still a solid play on FanDuel, he is much more accurately priced.

Jordan Bohannon, G, Iowa ($4,700 D,K $5,500 FD)

Bohannon offers some risk of busting and providing low value due low usage rate. However, at his low salary he can be a tournament winner if he can scrape together a solid game. He showed that he is more than capable of doing that in his last game on Wednesday, posting 50.3 DK points after not surpassing 25.3 the rest of the season. While he likely won't repeat that performance against Nebraska, he only has to do half of that to provide value for his low salary.
