DFS College Basketball: Monday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Monday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

Targets

1. Faite Williams, G, Prairie View ($3,000 DK)

While Prairie View has the lowest expected score of any team on Monday's slate, I had to do a double take when I saw Williams' salary for the team's matchup against Washington State. The junior has seen a major uptick in production early in the 2020-21 season, averaging 22.3 DK points/game over the first three contests of the year. Williams leads the Panthers in usage, and Prairie View should have to play from behind for the majority of the game. He should play a prominent role once again Monday, and he is a safe DFS bet given his minimum salary.

2. DeAndre Williams, F, Memphis ($5,000 DK)

Williams was recently granted immediate eligibility following his transfer from Evansville during the offseason. The junior was productive off the bench during his first game with his new program, and he'll enter the starting five against Tulsa on Monday. He should see an uptick in playing time in his new role with the team, but his DFS salary has yet to reflect his potential due to his limited sample size early in the season. Williams may carry a mid-tier salary for Monday's slate, but he could have elite production for Memphis in his first start with the team.

3. John Fulkerson, C, Tennessee ($7,800 DK)

Fulkerson has led the Volunteers in rebounds early in the season, and St. Joseph's has been one of the worst teams in the nation on the boards to begin the 2020-21 campaign. While Tennessee's matchup has the largest spread of any game on Monday's slate, Fulkerson has played at least 21 minutes in each of the first four games for the Volunteers this year, and he should continue to see ample playing time against the Hawks. In addition to leading the team on the boards, the center has been Tennessee's top scorer over the first four contests of the year and figures to be a key contributor once again Monday as the Volunteers have the highest expected score of any team on the DFS slate.

Fades

1. Isaac Bonton, G, Washington State ($8,200 DK)

Bonton was held out Friday after suffering a thigh injury in practice during the week before the game. Although there's been no indication that he'll miss Monday's matchup, it's not yet known whether he'll have restrictions on his playing time, especially since the Cougars are heavily favored against Prairie View. The senior guard has been the team's top contributor early in the season, but he carries the highest salary of any player on Monday's DFS slate and has several question marks, especially against a Prairie View program that has the slowest pace of any team on the slate.

2. Darien Jackson, G, Tulsa ($5,700 DK)

Jackson has seen consistent playing time off the bench for Tulsa early in the year, but his DFS salary is somewhat inflated after he put up 32.3 DraftKings points against Texas-Arlington on Dec. 4. Tulsa will face its toughest defensive opponent to date against Memphis, and Jackson could struggle to generate significant production, especially considering that he's only averaging 4.2 field-goal attempts per game over the first five contests of the 2020-21 campaign. For Jackson's mid-range DFS salary, there are several more appealing options on Monday's slate.

3. Landers Nolley, F, Memphis ($7,600 DK)

Nolley has been somewhat inconsistent to begin the season, but part of his struggles could be attributed to a wrist injury that he was dealing with earlier in the year. He's posted 21.3 DraftKings points in each of the past two games, but there are now more mouths to feed in the Tigers' front court now that DeAndre Williams is eligible to play following his transfer. Williams played 16 minutes off the bench in his Memphis debut, but it's unclear how the minutes will be distributed now that coach Penny Hardaway announced that Williams will start Monday's contest. Nolley has a top-tier DFS salary Monday, but his production could take a hit with Williams in the starting lineup.
